Hi JAR, I apologize, missed your comment..

The piece does not answer the question which it asks

Maybe he doesn't intend to answer it, maybe it is more of a lament.
I did find this curious though:

Very soon, I became a famous man in my hometown and announced my candidacy for Islamic parliament. It was from here that all the Shari’a values came to the surface

How could sharia only then become evident, given his devotion to islam. Unless it is the same as being unaware of the water that you swim in, so to speak. And the dislike of it seemed more triggered by the political obstacles it posed, rather than it's other obvious downfalls.
But an apostate is an apostate, which with Islam is far better than a believer.

The piece does not answer the question which it asks. That answer is of course the Western elites and their latent agenda. In their arrogance and hubris they have opened the door to forces which will not only destroy their own societies, but will consume them whole at the right moment. We are led by very foolish minds, so focused upon their own goals that they are oblivious to the mortal peril they place everything and everyone in.

Yes, I am sure that they believe that they can control events, and that they can trust their Saudi allies, I just wonder how much of a shock it will be to them when the worm turns, and seizes all of their worldly possessions, including their lives; though I do concede, many will simply convert to the faith just to avoid their just deserts, but I would lay bets on the fact that they will still be dispossessed, the prize is just too tempting for those who currently pulling the Islamic strings...they will NOT share; the throne of the world aint big enough for too many chiefs.

In my trips to various countries, I was shocked to see how Islam has been growing in many non-Islamic countries despite its intolerance towards democracy.

Why is this?

The black burqas with slits for eyes are shocking and frightening when you first see them and then you get accustomed to them. I see them all the time. The mosques were shocking at first, now they have become part of the landscape. Humans choose the path of least resistance (to their peril). How much more are we going to become accustomed to?
