The Progressive Diet: Marshmallow Turds

Progressive Diet

Failing to convince progressives to collectively asphyxiate themselves ( as suggested in the last post), we are left with  the ugly task of describing  these reality manglers. I find myself at a loss for words, or at least words that adequately capture the absolutely insidious and depraved nature of those who willingly lay down their freedom. Courtesy  an RFD America twitter, country writer and advocate Jerri Green produces a simple but useful  metaphor that serves.

Imagine popping a fluffy white marshmallow in your mouth only to discover a turd in the middle. What could be more evocative of the progressive experience. Problem is those fools apparently not only relish a steady diet of shit, they want the rest of the country on the same diet.

Neo-liberals pride themselves on their ability to use rhetoric to get their way. They are the hands-down best at manipulating words to manipulate minds. They think it’s a brilliant strategy. But I have to disagree. Manipulating words is a strategy to distract people from a poorly
constructed argument. By hiding the issue in a rhetoric marshmallow, they hope to make the Marxist idea of nationalization easier to swallow. The problem is you can wrap crap in a marshmallow all day long; it won’t hide the fact that you’re eating crap. But over at the Huffiington Post, they have a boat load full of marshmallows to hide their bits of crap in.

CO2 Awareness Day: A Solution to Kill Off Progressives

Yes indeed I have been absent from posting again. I am grateful to say that between work and grandkids I have had little time to devote to Fuhrer Obama and his suppurating troops of Ameri-phobic, slavery loving whores ( aka democRATS). But this comment over at Pat Dollard’s site has given me a spark of incentive. At least it is wonderful to imagine. Yes, imagine for one brief, refreshing moment a world without Obama, his minions, and his greedy, predator poor.

Bag an Obama-bot

Scoot

I found this on another site today, and it fits in here nicely.

“We’ve all been told ad nauseum that CO2 was causing global warming. All of us on earth should be concerned with keeping our environment healthy. So my solution is this:

Tell everyone you know, and spread the message. On April 20th 2009, we’ll have a CO2 awareness day. Since we exhale CO2 we can all make a difference. Anyone who believes that humans are causing climate change should tie plastic garbage bags over their heads for the entire day. By April 21st the issue will be solved.

We will once again be able to drive our SUV’s, eat as much as we want, and lower our thermostats to 60 in the summer, and the rest of the world will be silent. We can carry guns openly, (even though we won’t need them as much). We can wear fur, stop recycling, cut down trees, drain wetlands and build even bigger homes, keep more of our income and not have to worry about another foreign marxist usurper convincing a bunch of mindless bed wetters to elect him president. It won’t be a utopia, but it sure will be a lot quieter.”

In Passing.

Did you know that EUtopia is in big trouble? Well excuse my schadenfreude but it couldn’t happen to a more stupid bunch of people and just in time to show the US what is in store if they follow the Pied Piper of ‘Ham’-elin blindly down the river and don’t forget what happened to the children of Hamelin after the ethically challenged people didn’t pay the piper.

Barbara Kay who writes in The National Post, the best of the Canadian newspapers, [there isn't much competition] wrote this week about ‘Peace Studies’. Worth reading the whole thing but here is an excerpt:

Peace, peace, peace. In vogue as never before. Yes, “Peace Studies” is very hot, even though, unlike “Renaissance Studies” or “Canadian Studies,” there is no actual subject to analyze. Peace is not a “thing” or a place or a related series of events. Just as dark is the absence of light, peace — warm or cold — is essentially the absence of war. The rest is opinion and commentary.
Yet Peace Studies has become a huge academic industry over the last 40 years. The name is benign — what could be more worthwhile in principle than studies that claim to further what all of us desire? — but its allegedly disinterested agenda is anything but.

Peace Studies programs — the “idealistic” school of conflict resolution as opposed to the realist schools of military studies, geopolitics and the like — began as a response to the threat of nuclear armageddon during the Cold War. The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis accelerated their growth. Then the further upheaval of the Vietnam War prompted lavish donations from foundations like the Institute for World Order, which gave the movement academic security and political respectability.
But Peace Studies hasn’t produced practical prescriptions for managing or resolving global conflicts, because ideology always trumps objectivity and pragmatism.

Academics, idiots with brains.

Funny Picture.

An article about the research into the genome of Neanderthal Man is amazing. It reminds me of what I found so fascinating about the sciences when I was a schoolboy.

Socialist Power Grab:Does Barrack Obama Want a Civil War?

Obama Wet Dream

It is obvious to any sentient, sane citizen, which excludes the obamanites, that the left is going for all they can get, all that they feel has been denied them. Quite simply, they remind me of thugs who have broken into the mansion and stolen all the credit cards. Just as thieves have no intention of paying anyone back, neither does the monster now forming up in our government. Obama intends to break America’s heart, spirit and spine. Pat Dollard posits an interesting theory as to how Obama might advance his destructive agenda. Sadly, the theory is highly plausible.

Now I’m going to run with a theory.

So, what if Obama, Soros and Emanuel understand fully that our current, sudden, violent lurch into Socialism will not be tolerated by many to most of the American people, and that these people may possess sufficient physical concentration in order to secede in large territorial chunks, including those already defined by current state borders? They understand that they will be facing a crisis, right? Well, what is a crisis to the current Marxist regime of Obama other than an opportunity? Based on Emanuel’s stated philosophy, one can conclude that he and Obama seek the greatest crisis that they can possibly create. And this is it. Civil war born of broad secession is the Mother of All Crises, and therefor it is the nirvana of all crises. The current regime seeks civil war just as it seeks oxygen and food. And the actions of Abraham Lincoln provide the precise blueprint by which Obama can achieve all of his life ambitions. They provide the map with which he can navigate to the zenith of personal power, the desired destination of every narcissistic psychopath. Yes, he is a dedicated Marxist, but only insofar as Marxism is his chosen vessel to reach his ultimate goal of Absolute Power. He will defend Marxism until the day he dies, for Marxism is the only means by which he can be king, and being king is the only reason for which he lives.

In order to possess long-term dictatorial powers, Obama must recreate America as a Marxist culture and Marxist economy protected by both a limitless intelligence agency and a paramilitary police force. Once these goals are achieved, the traditional military will be preserved to support similar revolutions overseas, and to defend against foreign threats. (Subduing you is his first goal, but not his ultimate one. His brain his already 150 chess moves past the end of the upcoming American civil war. You are but stepping stones. In his mind, he’s already buried you.) Audacious? Yes. The epitome of change? Yes.

The Anti-American

Now, how does Obama achieve and maintain the goals laid out in the paragraph above? Implementing Marxism by legislation in a pluralistic democracy is not sufficient to maintain the reigns of both Marxism and a Marxist leader. They can be voted and legislated away. Capitalism can then return as the controlling process of the economy. Any Marxist who let things stand as such would be committing a fatal crime against Marxism. As such, Obama can not let America stand as a pluralistic democracy. If he is to follow his duty to his Allah, one Karl Marx of Germany, he must terminate pluralistic democracy. In order to achieve this, he must first adopt the assumption that this can only be achieved by force. This is a highly convenient assumption, given that in order to maintain a Marxist dictatorship, he has to establish a paramilitary police state, along with a plausible rationale for its existence. There is one swift way to achieve all three goals. Civil war.

All he has to do is create an excuse to wage literal war on those who would oppose him. This allows him to suspend democracy, crush his enemies, and establish a permanent police state, with the excuse to the American people that all of the above were done in order to preserve the Union. (The permanence of the police state will be secured by the slogan “Never Again”.) An updated version of Lincoln’s playbook, through and through.

For Obama, in order to catalyze a civil war, he must first create a crisis of secession or rebellion. He intends to do so via a mix of irresponsible, crisis-creating government, and legislative implementation of the first stages of absolute Marxism. These two will be sufficient to create a rebellion against his government. The rest will follow naturally.

The simplest remedy for this? For the employees of the Federal Government to refuse to work for him. No secession, no rebellion, no bloodshed, just a man who gave a war, but nobody came.

Just don’t count on it.

A comment from a different Dollard post also is interesting to ponder.

XD-40

 One sure thing about totalitarian regimes is the use of false flag operations. You can be absolutely certain, unless a genuine threat presents itself, obot’s masters will conduct such an op against the US. They are moving legislation quickly, but as with the Third Reich, not quickly enough. Kristallnacht was the NAZI false flag allowing Hitler to assume absolute power. Obot’s handlers CANNOT wait 2 years– too much of a chance they will be voted out. Look for an event within 6-12 months. Remember also that Obot is nothing more to these Shadow Men than a tool– easily disposed of if he becomes more valuable to them as a dead martyr. Hopefully the Secret Service has not been penetrated; maybe they will be lucky. The hit would be blamed on Whitey along with manufactured evidence. Also realize there are dumb supremacists who could be manipulated by the Shadow Men. As bad as he is, the Rule of Law, the vote, need to be the tools to get him out of office. A dead obot would beget Americans shooting each other. Obviously, the Shadow Men need to be found, but that’s the rub. Right now, all you can do is pray; the die has been cast. Resident Hussein Obama; Resident Bloody Liar

LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR LIAR

I have a very packed schedule and can’t really blog much. Nothing new to say really. With Hussein Obama it is pretty predictable; another day, another lie, another knife in America’s back. It would take a freaking library to catalog all the blatant manipulations and deceptions perpetuated by the mulatto metrosexual currently dirtying up the oval office.

Behind the gauzy, post-partisan halo the establishment media has painted around the cover-boy visage of Barack Obama lies one of the most cynically calculating pols in living memory. He promises to abide by campaign spending limits — except when he won’t. He won’t hire lobbyists — unless he makes a dozen exceptions to the rule. He’ll run a transparent government, posting everything on the web — except when it is inconvenient. He’ll say he’s bipartisan — except when it comes time to actually deal with real substance. And he can no more disown his pastor than he can disown his white grandmother — unless the pastor embarrasses him again, of course.

Obama has a certain maneuver — the “smile broadly for the audience while he sticks a shiv in you” — down to a fine art

May the harm Obama perpetuates against America come back to him and his 1000 fold. Cursed be the name Obama.

Going Barack-wards.

The best comment I’ve seen on the Obama speech is at Powerline by Scott, Paul, and John

From Scott’s:

He has confidence in his ability to peddle the faith. His confidence exceeds that of such hucksters as Father Divine, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim and Tammi Bakker, or Elmer Gantry. He says our day of reckoning has arrived. Yet it is a judgment from which He exempts Himself. His day of reckoning awaits.

It’s a Mad, Mad World.

Another nutty Obama appointment.

Pregnancy provokes a welter of feelings, physical and emotional. But does anyone really think of pregnancy as slavery? Apparently so: Indiana University law professor Dawn Johnsen, Pres. Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel.

Yale-educated and ACLU-trained, Johnsen already has done one tour of duty at OLC. She spent nearly six years there during the Clinton administration (1993–98), the last two as acting chief. OLC, a critically important agency, is the administration’s lawyers’ lawyer. Staffed by graduates of top law schools who are then polished by elite judicial clerkships, it authoritatively interprets the law for the attorney general and, in doing so, drives administration legal policy. OLC’s credibility is derived from its reputation for apolitical, academic discipline — its commitment to informing policymakers of what the law is, rather than what staffers believe the law should be. Johnsen is, for that reason, a poor fit: She is an ideologue, and an unabashed one.

Her bizarre equation of pregnancy and slavery was not an off-the-cuff remark. It was her considered position in a 1989 brief filed in the Supreme Court. At the time, she was legal director of NARAL (then the National Abortion Rights Action League, since renamed NARAL Pro-Choice America). The case, Webster v. Reproductive Health Services, involved a Missouri law that did not ban abortion but restricted the use of state funds and resources for abortions. It’s an obvious distinction, but one without a difference — at least according to Johnsen. Any restriction that makes abortion less accessible is, in her view, tantamount to “involuntary servitude” because it “requires a woman to provide continuous physical service to the fetus in order to further the state’s asserted interest [in the life of the unborn].” In effect, a woman “is constantly aware for nine months that her body is not her own: the state has conscripted her body for its own ends.” Such “forced pregnancy,” she contends, violates the Thirteenth Amendment, which prohibits slavery.

Where do all these assholes come from?

From the UK Telegraph

Terrorist suspects claiming unemployment benefits
Terrorist suspects placed under control orders restricting their movements are being paid unemployment benefits after promising to seek work in Britain.

Too many Western governments have gone soft in the head.

As a counterbalance to such idiocy, see this extremely interesting story of a British female ‘tree hugger’ who was invited by General Odierno to shadow him as he carried out his duties. As a bona fide tree hugger she hated armies and the US equally, but in the end came to admire both Odierno and the US Military.

I’m saving this post from American Thinker for all the people I run into who think Bush [of course] and Wall St are responsible for the financial crisis. The icing on this particular cake is that it’s from the NYT before Bush was elected.

Still Muttering.

Either there is a glitch in the comments or I’ve been banned from Still Muttering, I hope it’s the former. Kinda sad when that happens, I think you should be able to battle these things out or what’s the point in us having language? And just when I was being a bit conciliatory! Rather than waste my comment, I’ll post it here.

I think we all piled in on you a bit on this one so this is just to say sorry for taking you to task so much but also to point you to a post by the one and only Dr. Sanity who I respect immensely. A number of times over the last year I’ve been met with complete incredulity by lefty acquaintances when I’ve stated that Obama is not very smart. [Well I'd put it a little more strongly than that] They’d cite for instance his editorship of the Harvard Review while missing that there is nothing written by him contained therein. And so it is with everything in his life, from his birth certificate, his high school grades and university results to his voting record in the Senate. They might cite his two well received memoirs while missing what might prompt one so young to think he’s important enough to write them and of course not knowing that they were in fact ghost written by Bill Ayers the well known terrorist. So it’s good to see this from Dr. Sanity:

“Ledeen calls Obama’s foreign policy team “a bunch of elitist snobs.” I would refer to them as morally and intellectually bankrupt–because that is what the Democrats with their “progressive” leftist ideology have evolved into. The leftist ideologue now in the White House thinks of himself as a ‘pragmatist’, but frankly, for all his education and glibness, he’s an idiot;”

This is the man in the White House for the next four years [except for the times when he's 'tired of it' and escapes for a while] and that is why the likes of me and Zee and many others are freaking out a bit, not because we’re ordinarily excitable or raving right wing rednecks but because we truly think what is happening is frightening.
I hope you’ll read the Melanie Phillips article I linked to, she says it much better than I.

Update. Reality check.

Old Cancer Treatment Re-visited.

I have wondered sometimes if there was a way of boosting the immune system to fight cancer, lupus, arthritis etc. and if the cases that occur sometimes of spontaneous remission are just that. Seems there might be a way, check out this article in American Scientist.

Conventional wisdom long held that the human immune system was no match for cancer. Born of native cells, the logic went, cancer fooled the immune system into concluding it was harmless. Thus protected from attack, cancer easily thrived until its host died.

A deeper understanding of our biological defenses has changed that. The human immune system does battle cancer. But we could better optimize our defenses to fend off malignant disease. That’s clear from cancer treatments attempted in New York City and Germany as early as the 19th century. Those experiments and other undervalued evidence from the medical literature suggest that acute infection—in contrast to chronic infection, which sometimes causes cancer—can help a body fight tumors.

It’s not the pathogens that do the good work. But the way our bodies respond to the pathogens is key. Infection events, especially those that produce fever, appear to shift the innate human immune system into higher gear. That ultimately improves the performance of crucial biological machinery in the adaptive immune system. This lesson comes, partly, from doctors who risked making patients sicker to try to make them better.

Couldn’t Resist.

Stole this from Dr. Sanity.

My latest comment on Still Muttering.

I am still optimistic for the long term, after all what was it, 58 million Americans didn’t want Obama in spite of the hype, not hope, that ran his campaign and more millions will have their eyes opened as Obama stumbles ineptly along, but two years is a long time for he and Pelosi and co to have free run of the hen house, there might not be many chickens left to supply us with eggs by then. The worst part of the Socialist agenda is, as they’ve been doing in UK, to have as many people employed in government or dependent on government as possible, guaranteed voters for them. As they say, if you take money from Peter to pay Paul, you can always rely on Paul’s support.
I love gentle intelligent people like you, you’re the best and it would be nice if we were all like you, but there are nasty people out there, from Socialists who think they know better how everyone should live to the barbarians with their Sharia law and they have to be fought with a clear eyed vision of what’s at stake and what must be done to defeat them.
Dr Sanity had the best summary of Obama I’ve seen, she listened to part of an Obama speech and said the gist of it was:
On domestic policy: I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.
On foreign policy: Peace in our time.
O is a bigger danger than the bumbling Carter, since he knows what he’s doing. See Alinsky for that.

Santelli, Tea Parties, and States Rights

Everyone has heard Santelli’s rant by now and it indeed was a beautiful thing.

And everyone has heard the pulsillanimous Gibbs, Obama’s wet metrosexual PR goon , try his best to sneer at Santelli. What a pasty pile of flesh Gibbs is, isn’t he?  Santelli responds below.

Tea Party anyone?

The nation’s outrage over the never ending Bush-Obama Bailout Parade is heating up fast. This week alone we’ve seen grassroots rallies in Seattle, Denver, Mesa, and Kansas. Then yesterday, CNBC editor Rick Santelli set off a virtual firestorm when his passionate critique of President Barack Obama’s mortgage bailout plan inspired traders on the floor of the Chicago Board Options Exchange to stop their pre-trading preparations to voice their support. The video of Santelli’s call for a “Chicago Tea Party” to protest the government’s constant intervention in the free market has spread like wildfire across all media outlets.
[...]
Closing his interview with National Review, Santelli also connected the mortgage bailout to the Obama Administration’s stimulus plan:

Santelli: I’ll be honest with you, I think I’ve gotten somewhere between 850-900, and I think I had three that were negative. … The issue is, you can’t pick out 8 or 9 percent and give them things that weaken the 90 or 92 percent who are carrying the water. … They need to quit picking winners and losers, and they have to quit alienating the classes. You have to figure out a way to float all boats, and I think that’s where the administration has gone wrong, and I think that’s the nerve I hit.
[...]

At the end of the day, it’s simple. A lot of the president’s advisers are saying that there’s a multiplier effect to the government money, and it’s over one. Now if that’s true, then the government should spend non-stop for the rest of our lives, because we’ll get a positive return. And it makes no sense. … I guess in the end, I believe in the founding fathers, and I believe that in America… the pursuit of happiness and to work hard and keep the fruits of your labor is something I believe in. And I’m not saying we should forget people who need help. But at the end of the day, Americans are strong and they’re charitable. I think what they have a problem with is that it’s force-fed via the government.

Our Black African Leader.

JAU at Still Muttering has a hope that maybe Obama will accomplish some good. What she writes is good and makes sense if it didn’t concern Obama. My comment:

This guy Obama is either an empty fool or a Marxist ideologue, my guess is both. I can’t help thinking black Kenyan Marxist father and then looking at all the disastrous black leaders Africa has had since independence, Mugabe being just the latest, and I see unbelievably one of them as President of the US. Hope all you want but there is a disaster in the making. Obama has been nurtured and funded by Soros, his mentors from his early years were Marxists, his mother and father were. If in the debacle to come the Democrats are purged of the hard left who have taken over the Party then at least some good will come out of it, but at such a price.

To re-enforce that I linked to this column, America, What Have You Done, of the always wonderful Melanie Phillips. She concludes:

And how did the 44th President react to the growing public dismay over the mess he was making? He threw his toys out of the pram — or perhaps that should read, he got into the pram. For he fled the scene of the disaster and sought the company of seven year-olds instead. As the Telegraph reported:

‘We were just tired of being in the White House,’ he told a group of excited seven-year-olds before discussing Batman and reading them a book.

Tired of being President – after two weeks!

Tax cheats, pork-barrel politics, ancillary child abuse, incompetence, chaos, treachery and infantilism. America – what have you done?!

Should just mention that ‘Still Muttering’ in one of my favourite blogs, a daily read. I love that her grandfather was concertmaster in Toscanini’s NBC Orchestra.

Update.

Those of us who are a little more aware than the average person of the underlying agenda of the ‘bankrupt America’ movement spearheaded by Soros and his protege Obama aided and abetted by the Democrats know that we are headed for dangerous times. Some like ‘The Doctor is In’ can articulate the danger in a way that would be on the front pages of our newspapers were they not part of the conspiracy or just as likely ignorant of the consequences of what they do.

Those who live by certain conviction of a divine and beneficent deity, upon whose absolute principals lie the foundations of all moral behavior and societal harmony, may tolerate the corruption of secular man who rejects such notions, having as they do a clear-eyed understanding of the fallen nature of man. The secular, on the other hand, can broach no such tolerance: secularism is instead an aggressive and metastasizing malignancy which, while speaking tolerance, seeks only the extermination of that which by its very existence stands as a condemnation of their views. For to be religious, moral, ethical, and grounded in the consequential absolutes which transcend and measure the heart of men is to stand as an intolerable affront to the notion that man alone is the measure of all things.

Do go and read it all.

Slain Prophets

Mt. Olive

Now I am not particularly well versed in the Bible. I used to know it fairly well though and if memory serves there is a scene, in Revelations I think, that describes the murder or slaughter of two prophets in Israel, not sure where there, but in some holy place in Israel. The verses suggest that the entire world would witness it, thus placing that prophecy in the realm of the impossible until, of course, the invention of television.

What brings this up is this site I ran into for Christians praying for Israel, appropriately named IPray TV.  It features live web cams of Mt. Olive, Golgotha, and other holy sites,  and I am wondering if one of these locations is where those prophets are to be slain. If so, these web cams will certainly broadcast that event globally.

That would be so incredibly bizarre to witness.

God, Survival, Children

Damn. I made it back. I am suffering from blogophobia which develops in response to Obamanism and Islam, throwing in progressivism as a final fillip of insult.  I mean, good lord in heaven, do we have to write about our rape and pummeling and slaughter as we undergo it?

The answer is apparently, yes. So I must suck it up and return to the front. But I am sick of being distracted by Obama. Islam continues to make huge inroads and will only flourish more under obama’s  nurturing hand and I do wish to get back to concentrating on that topic. But then, Islam is only  part of the disease, a symptom of our demise, as is this plaque of socialism. The root is nihilism and, as my explorations continue to indicate, the nihilism derives from a denial of who we as human beings are. Creations designed by the hand of God. And this is where I have come to take a stand. The God I refer to, for me, is the Christian God. The battle that I witness I have come to believe heralds the final movements in this ancient battle between good and evil, light and dark, life and death.

So, I am going to be exploring God in these pages, as I return to seeking him. And I am going to be talking about the reading I am doing in preparation of, hopefully, home schooling my grandchildren. Reading about this country’s true history, our founding fathers and that amazing constitution, a document  that I have come to believe to be more evidence of the incredible genius of a God intent on empowering man to govern in a fair imitation of a celestial governance. Unfortunately, few of us have taken God seriously on his offer.
And I also am doing some research into survival. Yes, survival. I feel like the damnable grasshopper in that fable warning against indolence. I have played the fiddle all my life instead of methodically building my reserves and resources and using my gifts to secure a life that can withstand the storms. So I scurry to learn about seeds, and gardening, and what staples to stock up on. What do I want on my island of civility should the day come when my family and I must be about sustaining and protecting our own sustenance and survival, bereft of the amazing tools and technology America has afforded us these many decades.

So anyway, I am working on a post and I will go back to doing that now but, I invite you to join in on a conversation that  Ligneus started in this post, Nascent Religion, inquiring as to how one introduces a child to the topic of God.  Especially given the times we live in.

I’ll be back.

Nascent Religion.

This morning my five year old grand daughter Cerys, [Katy is her nickname in case you're wondering if I have another one] asked, ‘What’s the importantest thing around?’ [Reminds me of my son when he was seven while observing the stream of people crossing in front of us while stopped at an intersection, 'Dad, What are people for?] Even so young they are aware of the ‘big’ questions, and unless you’re fully into some ideology or other, in which case the answer would be a form of cheating and therefore cheating them too, what do you say? I tried, ‘the air we breathe, the sun, you’, but those didn’t wash. I was flippant, ‘ice cream’, maybe there was a hint of a smile, more than I deserved. Then, ‘Some people would say God’, which seemed to set her thinking, I left it at that. Anyone have any better ideas as to how you answer these questions without being being too didactic? I think perhaps the system I was brought up under whereby we had religious instruction in school plus some church going also with the school was OK, this was Church of England which is less dogmatic than RC which I understand but maybe not for infants, otherwise we were free to decide for ourselves, but at least we were given the requisite knowledge on which to base such decisions.

Photobucket

Update. The Religious Instruction we received, later changed to Religious Education in an early example of Political Correctness, was mostly the story of Jesus, the Beattitudes, the Good Samaritan, that sort of thing, plus Christmas Carols and Hymns. Those hymns were part of our lives, we lived in a small village surrounded by farmland, We Plow the Fields and Scatter had real meaning. Living on an island as Britain is, the sea is also part of the culture. We lived in Deal in Kent on the East coast for a while, just a couple of miles out from shore lie the Goodwin Sands which rise to a few feet below sea level. Ships would run aground from time to time, specially at night in stormy weather whereupon we’d be woken by distress rockets exploding and the lifeboat, manned by volunteers from the herring boatmen would be launched to the rescue of the ships crew. We would sing ‘For Those in Peril on the Sea’ with a sense of dread, feeling the helplessness of those seamen. Mustn’t forget what is a great song for kids, All Things Bright and Beautiful. It took a while to find the old version we used, found Harry Secombe singing it. Now Harry S was a member of the famous Goons, a fore runner of sorts of Monty Python who did a parody of it, All Things Dull and Ugly , any atheist will find it hilarious, for others, don’t take life so seriously. What makes it funny too are the Cockney urchin voices, compared to the super refined diction of the usual English choirboy. And of course There is a Green Hill Far Away, when I was seven years old this one gave me a sadness I still feel when I hear it. Partly from the words and what they portray and partly from the music. The sophistication of the melody which in my unmusical state I take to be shifts to the minor keys should be compared to the simple songs kids get now from childrens’ tv shows in which by the way they don’t even employ people who can sing. I guess that’s part of the dumbing down so that kids who can’t sing don’t have their little feelings hurt because they can’t sing in tune, the result of that you can see by the thousand on American Idol.

Opting Out.

A while back in an e-mail, Zee expressed an interest in finding a piece of land on which to live, grow vegetables and fruit, keep chickens and a couple of cows partly in order to become less dependent on government services and utilities. Well there is an interesting post and comments at Fresh Bilge on the subject and on opting out of the system as much as possible, lying low as some call it. Though I haven’t done much posting lately I think we bloggers are by definition ‘involved’ in our communities and our country and all without need of community organizers. We are ‘free spirits’ in some respects, independent by nature and our involvement is the necessary means to ensure that we and our friends and neighbours can stay that way, no ‘community organizing’ for us, we’d rather allow others to figure out for themselves what is in their best interest and if they or we fail sometimes well that’s the price we pay to learn. The socialists and community organizers will only lead you down a dead end street.

O/T but I found this amusing. On Valentine’s Day the local Classics radio station was taking requests and dedications from listeners all day. One guy phoned in and started, “My name is John Rainbow, R-a-i-n b-o-w”.
Firstly who wouldn’t know how to spell rainbow, then who the hell does he think would be interested and lastly there is all that technology in use and thousands of people listening while he takes the time to slowly spell out his name. It’s a bit like those in the supermarket who will leave their cart at an angle in the middle of the aisle while they saunter off to find something, or the cab drivers who stop three feet from the kerb to pick up a passenger, a complete unawareness or care on what is going on around them. Maybe it’s not so O/T, maybe it’s like a personal opting out or an ersatz opting out when the real thing is unobtainable.

America Awakening.

Not quite a month since the inauguration and my coinage ‘Obamadebacle’ is up front and in view for anyone to see. The strange part is he seems to not care and the question is why? Under any normal circumstances he would be on track to destroying his chances of re-election. Two things come to mind, the first is that in order to make the massive change in America that he and his acolytes envisage, he had to hit the ground running and throw everything into the effort and let the devil take the hindmost. Do you think the huge ‘stimulus’ package, all one thousand odd pages of it was thrown together in a couple of weeks in Congress? No, this is all part of a long term well laid out plan. First they ruin the economy via the Community Re-Investment Act courtesy of Raines, Dodd and ACORN. Push it over the edge in the last part of the Presidential campaign to doom the Republicans and get Obama into the White House. [The reason they went nuclear over Sarah Palin was that she scared the shit out of them, she was the rock on the track of their Marxist Express Train about to de-rail it, she had to be blasted out of the way. They're a nasty lot these compassionate lefty Bolsheviks.]

The second reason he doesn’t care it that with the ‘stimulus’ package, he has earmarked billions to buy votes for his re-election campaign, a la if you take money from Peter to pay Paul you can always count on Paul’s support. Add those Pauls to their natural constituency and Hey Presto! you have a majority.

If what I say is so, I think they’ve miscalculated badly, but then I never thought he was electable in the first place so I don’t place great confidence in that assertion. Given Obambi’s shape shifting abilities and the short attention span of too much of the populace he could get away with it. Already now the bill is passed he’s gone from ‘catastrophe’ to ‘our grandparents had it much worse, we have the strength to get through this’.

The Prince of Thieves
, an article by Lance Fairchok at American Thinker, is but one of many laying out what’s in store.

The era of Obama-inspired bi-partisan goodwill was very brief. As with all his carefully choreographed pandering, it was in large measure a rhetorical tool. In the language of average Americans a “rhetorical tool” equates to a lie, a lie told to get votes. Obama was very good at convincing otherwise intelligent people that he was sincere, and the “Hope” and “Change” he would bring to often imaginary problems would make America a better nation, bringing opposing sides together to tackle all those problems in consensus and warm fellowship. It was all nonsense. A good speech does not make good government. We are beginning to get an idea of what the next four years will be like. It will be a purely partisan disaster.

We have to hope that eventually this moving target will get hit with enough arrows to pin it down so the casual observer can see it for what it is. The conclusion of the article brings the said target into focus for those of less sure aim.

If you thought we were merely emerging from a divisive election and things will shake themselves out, you should realize it is far more than that. It is no less than an attempt to transform America into a socialist state. It is not the battle of political ideas; it is the battle for survival of our democratic republic against an ideology that is a proven failure and a certain disaster. It is the attempt by socialist elites to implement an agenda that is carefully hidden from the voter and would be abhorrent to them, should they understand the implications. We know that socialism is a road to failure. Examples of that belief system’s depredation are everywhere, from Great Britain to Venezuela, and a hundred points in between. Socialism is a parasite that consumes a nation’s lifeblood, come quickly or slowly it will kill the host.

The Socilaists who call themselves Democrats work hard to consolidate and perpetuate their control. They took us without violence, by subterfuge, stealth, and deceit. But make no mistake, President Barack Obama is motivated by the same controlling impulses that inspire Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Daniel Ortega; it is the same totalitarian tendency that animates all utopian ideologies. In the weeks and months to come, the ugliness of this ideology will become more and more apparent. His associations with criminal, racist, terrorist, and American hating colleagues and friends define him, and at a fundamental level, our new president does not respect the nation he now presumes to lead.

President Obama is the Prince of Thieves, who with his minions in Congress will do more to undermine this nation in a few short years than all the decades of economic turmoil, cold war and the war on terror. He wraps his policies in moral platitudes, cynically using little old ladies at rallies to anchor his inconsistencies and lies in the minds of a credulous public. The press is his willing propagandist.

They are stealing our children’s and grandchildren’s future, they are stealing money that we toiled for, they are weakening our nation and embracing our enemies, and very soon they will steal our freedoms one at a time, hoping we do not notice. Talk radio is already in their sights. They are stealing America. If we let them.

“If we let them”. Words to remember.

Back Off Obama: Twenty States and Counting

These days there are few things that give even the merest suggestion of light in this dreary, post-American world. But a glimmer can be had from a wave of states bristling at the imperious squawking of Obama from the White House of Marx.

So, I’m not sure where these efforts will lead, but I find it damn heartening.

Lawmakers in 20 states move to reclaim sovereignty

As the Obama administration attempts to push through Congress a nearly $1 trillion deficit spending plan that is weighted heavily toward advancing typically Democratic-supported social welfare programs, a rebellion against the growing dominance of federal control is beginning to spread at the state level.
So far, eight states have introduced resolutions declaring state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, including Arizona, Hawaii, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Washington.

Analysts expect that in addition, another 20 states may see similar measures introduced this year, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania.
