The Skinny on Marxism.
Without having read Marx it might seem a tad dumb for me to sound off on it as I sometimes do but I’m sure we’ve all read enough about it to have formed opinions and for sure we’ve seen the results of its implementation in various place around the world. It’s good therefore to fine a potted rebuttal of all the tenets of this Old European Totalitarian Thought System.
I wonder what Norm would say to it, he being a professor of Marxism. I will send it to him and wait for his reply damning it as simplistic.
The article, written by Stephen Plaut, ends with this:
Marxists claim that Marxism is a science. It is not. It is today little more than a form of mental illness.
H/T Alan Sullivan.
So I took myself over to Norm and he was already on to it, sort of agreeing with some of it but disagreeing with most. I won’t try to argue with him, he’s way too smart for me and he really knows his Marx. But the question remains, why has Marxism been such an abject failure in the real world away from cerebral creation of Marx’s imagination? And I still see it as part of the central European totalitarian mindset from Napoleon through Marx and Hitler to EUtopia today. Even the catastrophe of WW2 didn’t destroy the virus, it just mutated and gave us the EU. It has always been a low grade infection in the US awaiting the weakening of our immunity which has unfortunately been brought about by the Great Generation, seeking to give their offspring a better life than they endured and instead bringing up a pampered, spoiled and immature generation who now have their Messiah, aka The Idiot in Chief.

Lara.
Took this one today of Lara in low light hence the slight movement [slow shutter speed] and the grain [high ISO] but things like that don’t necessarily matter, I kinda like it. It was mostly the light from the computer monitor actually. And that’s the full frame by the way, it hasn’t been cropped. Cropping is a useful tool but should be used with care. Henri Cartier Bresson, the dean of photojournalism, said he never cropped a photo. It does make you more aware of your framing while taking the pics.

Ron Silver
I have always found it odd to find myself saddened by the death of a stranger. Ron Silver was a man I very much appreciated, an agile and brilliant thinker and one of the few politically palatable personages out of Hollywood. Though far to the left of me, he was a man willing to wrestle ideological demons, not quietly drink the kool-aid.
Yet, I didn’t know him, had nothing invested in him and still, I feel that I have lost something, though it be something that was never mine. Odd thing how one becomes attached without any idea an attachment has formed…
An interview before the election finds him terribly weakened and physically diminished, but his spirit is still a burnished and thriving thing, as I imagine it is, even this moment.

Paul!
I’m being too serious lately, though not in my real life, two little kids are a great antidote to that malady. So for a little change, one of my favourite jokes, one that’s much better told than written but I have no choice here.
Jesus, high on the cross at the beginning of the third day is very weak. In a faltering voice he calls, ‘Paul’, ‘Paul’.
Paul at the back of the crowd hears him and answers, ‘Yes master, I’m coming’, and starts pushing his way through the crowd. This annoys people, they punch and kick him as he shoves his way through leaving him bruised and bleeding.
‘Paul’. ‘Paul’.
‘Yes master, I hear you, I’m coming!’ He arrives at the front of the crowd where a line of Centurions bar his way. He pushes past them but not without being beaten to the ground by their spear ends and shields.
‘Paul’. ‘Paul’.
Paul drags himself painfully to the foot of the cross, ‘I’m here, Master, what is it that I can do?’
‘Paul. I can see your house from up here’.
OK, since you liked that one so much here’s another!
Sphere: Related ContentJesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee one morning when he came across a crowd of shouting people. He asked what was going on.
‘We have this woman who was taken in adultery and we’re going to stone her to death’.
Jesus became very angry and pushed his way to the front of the crowd. He raised his arms and the people fell silent.
‘Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone’.
There was silence. Then a little old woman came forward, picked up a rock and smashed it in the woman’s face, leaving the blood pouring down.
Jesus looked at the old woman and said, ‘You know ma, you don’t half pee me off sometimes.’

Yep, Those Elite Newspaper People are Dumb.
From the comments on a post at Knox News.
Sphere: Related ContentThe problem with newspapers (and I’m a former newspaper editor and publisher) is that you folks think we can’t detect when your news columns are being used to foist your agenda on us.
We’re much smarter than you think we are, and that you think we’re dumb merely reveals your arrogance. So, while we are not necessarily cheering your demise, we’re snickering because you’re getting what’s coming to you.
We see you bashing conservatives, while liberals committing similar sins go un-commented upon. We’re not stupid. We know that you are the “deciders” about what’s news and what’s swept under the rug. You tell us often enough.
So, we’ve moved on. Opinions are a dime a dozen. I can find myriad voices online to feed me my opinion back to me. If you think I’m going to pay money for yours, you’re sadly mistaken. Your just one voice amongst thousands of them out there. Why should I pay good money for your opinion?
You also forgot that half your advertisers are conservatives who have decided maybe they don’t want to fund your little Democrat Party Propoganda sheet any longer, and so they’ve found other more creative ways to spend their ad budgets.
If you tell people to f*ck off enough times, they eventually will, taking their ad revenue with them.
Good luck in your retirement. I suspect that if it took you this long to finally detect the desire amongst your few remaining subscribers for “just the facts” that it’s far too late to save you.

The Day of the Flakes is Coming To An End.
The Flakes being all the New Agers, the EUtopians, the Troofers, Obama and his followers, the Global Warmists and of course Flake in Chief Oprah. I won’t be a flake and think it’s anything but coincidence that Obama and Oprah both begin with O for Overrated big fat Zero’s but it’s interesting nonetheless, the sort of thing that if found in a novel would be called simplistic or beyond the bounds of willing suspension of disbelief like the real Cardinal from the Philipines whose name was Sin. Here’s a reason I say their time in the sun is coming to an end, almost literally as it happens as Global Cooling seems more in the cards at the moment than their fantasy of taking control of every human activity on the planet, an article in The Telegraph about two conferences on the climate:
Nobody listens to the real climate change experts
The minds of world leaders are firmly shut to anything but the fantasies of the scaremongers, says Christopher Booker. The first in Copenhagen, billed as “an emergency summit on climate change” and attracting acres of worldwide media coverage, was explicitly designed to stoke up the fear of global warming to an unprecedented pitch. As one of the organisers put it, “this is not a regular scientific conference: this is a deliberate attempt to influence policy”.
…
Thus the name of the game last week, as we see from a sample of quotations, was to win headlines by claiming that everything is far worse than previously supposed. Sea level rises by 2100 could be “much greater than the 59cm predicted by the last IPCC report”. Global warming could kill off 85 per cent of the Amazon rainforest, “much more than previously predicted”. The ice caps in Greenland and Antarctica are melting “much faster than predicted”. The number of people dying from heat could be “twice as many as previously predicted”.
The hysteria of the Warmists grows as the earth cools and they see their dream fading. They know their time is short.
None of the government-funded scientists making these claims were particularly distinguished, but they succeeded in their object, as the media cheerfully recycled all this wild scaremongering without bothering to check the scientific facts.
What a striking contrast this was to the second conference, which I attended with 700 others in New York, organised by the Heartland Institute under the title Global Warming: Was It Ever Really A Crisis?. In Britain this received no coverage at all, apart from a sneering mention by the Guardian, although it was addressed by dozens of expert scientists, not a few of world rank, who for professional standing put those in Copenhagen in the shade.
Led off with stirring speeches from the Czech President Vaclav Klaus, the acting head of the European Union, and Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT, perhaps the most distinguished climatologist in the world, the message of this gathering was that the scare over global warming has been deliberately stoked up for political reasons and has long since parted company with proper scientific evidence.
If the US could swap Presidents with the Czechs what a wonderful world it would be. It is truly astounding that in a country of around 300 million people you can end up with a sick narcissist as President, I give him six months before the only followers he has left are the Marxists, the fools and the deranged. It will be interesting to watch even if painful not to mention dangerous on many levels.
Update.
“There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.” — from the Oregon Petition, signed by over 31,000 scientists
That is the preamble to a post at American Thinker on the New York conference.
California Congressman Tom McClintock offered examples of just how global warming is damaging his state — all in the form of radical construction blocking, agriculture crippling, resource wasting legislation the warm-mongers have gotten through to fight it. Here’s a beauty — a homeowner can be fined $1000/day for refusal to cut down his trees if they block a neighbor’s solar panels, but also faces fines if he cuts them down or clears brush for fire preventive purposes. And Gov. Schwarzenegger – who just proposed the largest tax increase in history to make up for funds lost by his failed green policies — wants Cal-E-Fornia to be “an example to the country.”
Bennie Peiser, founder and editor of the fabulous CCNet, explained the political backlash European greenies are experiencing. And it’s pretty bad — Labor and Green parties are seeing the amalgamation of the recession and failed Kyoto-inspired energy policies driving their core voters away. Lawrence Solomon offered more examples of overseas carbon regulation disasters, declaring Kyoto the greatest single destroyer of the environment, especially in the third world.
The mostly lefty Global Warmists summed up: Some are born idiots, others achieve idiocy and yet others have idiocy thrust upon them.

10 Dead in Alabama, 508 dead in Chicago
Rachel Lucas conducts an interesting informal experiment from her present home in Great Britain. She’s been comparing comments in the English papers on news of the recent Alabama shootings with those regarding the shooting spree that took 15 lives in Germany.
It’s a good read describing the usual density that libtards typically demonstrate about guns on both sides of the ocean. They are like children stamping their feet. Guns are Bad! Bad! Bad! and they simply will not have it any other way. Just as they imagine that they can eradicate poverty, they slap reality about a bit more by contending it’s the guns, not evil men that slay. But you can’t recognize evil if you deny it’s existence. Or, as is actually more the case these days, you can’t deny evil if you are in bed with it.

Dead in Chicago
Seems to me the folks at Huffington’s qualify as evil’s willing bedfellows. Certainly the comments that Rachel excerpts from that tawdry crowd on the Alabama shootings, which echo their British cousin’s snitty droppings, testify to their high stepping ignorance. Must make them dizzy to strut about so imperiously while balancing such bloated, empty heads. Be that as it may, here are a few examples..
Just another NRA success story in a goober red state, not to sound unfeeling here, but this stuff happens far to much in red states with weak gun laws, and faltering economies. When are they going to get it?
and
More horriffic evidence that my proposal for a federal law requiring all gun owners / buyers to pass a psychological fitness component to the application gun ownership. ..
and last, but not least, this gem….
this is considered a rampage killing and without a doubt, the OVERWHELMING majority of similar crimes are committed by angry white men and gun restrictions need to be implemented for them. Not because they are white, but because they seem to have limited conflict resolution skills and guns are their typical answer to most problems.
(Source)
Indeed. White folks, huh? Well, cool, if you are going to break it down like that, I feel free to say without any hesitation, and with a great deal more accuracy, that there must be a hell of alot of angry black folks in Chicago, because in 16 months there have been 508 students shot. And yes, I am asserting these are black on black murders. As they are so fond of saying, if these were white kids, well, you’d have heard about it.
Twenty-five Chicago Public School students have been murdered this year. As shocking as that number is, there is another figure that’s very disturbing as well: the number of students who have been shot in a 16-month period is enough to fill an elementary school – 508 students, according to school officials. CBS station WBBM-TV in Chicago’s Chief Correspondent Jay Levine asks why, and what is being done to stop it.
Think about it. By this time tomorrow, odds are at least one Chicago Public School student will have been shot. By this time next week, there’ll be seven. It’s a staggering, frightening, shameful statistic that judging from the reaction we got, those who could do something aren’t anxious to talk about( Source)
To borrow the vernacular of the Huffpos, I can only conclude that these “...crimes are committed by angry white black men and gun restrictions need to be implemented for them. Not because they are white black, but because they seem to have limited conflict resolution skills and guns are their typical answer to most problems.”
Gee, I wonder how all those dead black kids escaped Obama’s attention. I mean, hey, it was on his watch, in his hometown. Please, would anyone care to tell me why his performance in Chicago wasn’t a sufficient harbinger of how he will run ruin this country?
I guess that is why the Huffpos have to jump on imagined rednecks in Alabama like gorging piranhas landing on a fat woman drowning. It takes a good deal of energy and diversion to ignore 508 dead or wounded black kids back on the home turf of their messiah.

Succinct.
Found the following at Powerline, it’s by mathematician and economist Eric Weinstein.
Many of us who work in finance are even more horrified by what we see than the lay public appears to be. Some of us spoke publically for years about the dangers posed. Others published papers or books to spread the word. Curiously, however, our country’s laws would not even permit average families to voluntarily invest in those hedge funds that profited from this crisis by, for example, shorting subprime mortgages.
Accordingly, we don’t believe that citizenship in the United States should now hurriedly be converted into forced participation in an unaccountable secretive national hedge fund which buys lousy assets at inflated prices from banks mismanaged for personal profit by multi-millionaires, and makes non-consensual capital calls on uninformed, captive, financially unsophisticated families.
If these government actions were put to the Supreme Court, would they be deemed illegal?

Double Dealing.
My Old Man [which is what we called my dad] was I guess what’s known as a ‘character’. If I need to illustrate his totally self centred beingness, I tell of one evening about 1953, we were watching a show on TV with Bing Crosby singing some song or other, and he remarked, “You know, unfortunately for Bing, I’ve never liked him”. He was also a story teller, aka a liar. He would lie sometimes for no apparent reason or advantage. The family solicitor, [lawyer] called him the most convincing liar he’d ever met. My mom on the other hand was as honest as Jesus himself, she would tell by way of example of ‘proper’ behaviour, of her father of whom it was said, ‘He is transparently honest’. So, genetics aside, I and my brothers, as their offspring had a choice as to which example to follow.
My dad’s mother who died when he was twelve was Spanish. This is her in 1908 with my one year old papa.
Next a pic taken in Deal which I have mentioned before, a seaside town in Kent on the south east corner of England, the skinny 12 year old in the dark school blazer is yours truly and the other boy is my brother, two years younger to the day than I.
One more and I’ll get to the point, my dad at 49.
OK, so my grandmother looks Spanish as does my dad but do you see a Middle Eastern look too, aka Arab Muslim? Given that Spain was occupied by them for several hundred years there must have been much interbreeding. Now connect Mohammed’s commands that it’s OK to lie and deceive for Allah, as in the case of a Hudna, which is a ceasefire only because they would be losing and it buys time to re-group to renew hostilities later. All that didn’t come from out of the blue, despite what Mohammed may tell you, it must have been normal practise for the Arabs for as long as they’ve been around, it was part of their genetic code so for Muhammed it was just part of the culture, nothing unusual. This is in part idle speculation and part accepting that there maybe some truth in it and given by dad’s penchant for lying could it have been part of his genetic code.?
Finally I come to this article
from Standpoint:
Imaginary Islamist Think-Tanks
ROBIN SIMCOX
March 2009Despite what the pessimists say, there is one industry that is still flourishing in the UK. It consists of Islamists establishing their own think-tanks and pressure groups. They serve little purpose other than to bestow legitimacy upon ill-informed, extremist Muslim speakers, who can then attend conferences and get media access under the façade of expertise.
This is a surprisingly easy bandwagon to jump on. Come up with an intellectual-sounding name for your organisation, buy a website domain and give yourself an impressive-sounding job title. This was the route taken by Hamas cheerleader Azzam Tamimi. He recently addressed the prestigious UK Defence Academy, is a regular contributor to the Guardian website, and once told the BBC that suicide bombing in Palestine “is the straight way to pleasing my God and I would do it if I had the opportunity”. He describes himself as Director of the Institute of Islamic Political Thought (IIPT). The domain registered to the IIPT says it has a website “coming soon” (it has been coming since 2007), but meanwhile offers you the chance to download Tamimi’s CV. What exactly it is that he is meant to be directing remains unclear. What is beyond doubt is that Tamimi uses the IIPT to try to couch his views in an aura of academic respectability.
Then there is Anjem Choudary, former leader of the banned extremist group Al-Muhajiroun, who according to CNN called the 9/11 terrorist attacks “magnificent” and boasted that “the black flag of Shariah will fly over Downing Street”. Choudary was a regular on the BBC in the wake of 7/7, last year spoke at the National Liberal Club on the need for Sharia in the UK, and calls himself a Principal Lecturer at the London School of Shariah. This consists of Choudary driving around east London trying to find people to preach his version of Sharia to. It is probably the first, and only, school in the world to be based in the back of a van.
I wonder when the left, Academe, the MSM, Obama, all the usual suspects are going to factor this into their dealings with Islam.

Time for Some Optimism.
I think I’m over the shock of Obama’s election but not the disbelief that so many, and so many otherwise intelligent, people were willingly taken in by him. Unless before too long Obama has a Damascus moment and throws all his fellow ideologues and his ideology under the bus disaster lies ahead. But that disaster will mark the end for a long time of the liberal disease that has infected the land, the damage done will be repaired eventually just as the damage of five years of war against Germany and Japan was repaired. It will take longer because you can’t destroy the liberalism in the manner of the WW2 enemies, but then again, maybe not, Americans are a prosperous resilient people and once they understand that the disaster that Obama brought about was deliberate and for hidden reasons of imposing an alien ideology that has failed wherever it’s been tried their anger will be intense, no less so in those who ‘believed’ all the hope and change hokum.
William Rusher’s final column, he is 85, shows an old man’s wisdom and perspective on the current debacle that America has unaccountably and willingly brought about.
He ends thusly:
So, I am basically an optimist for the future of the United States. Historically, its deepest roots are moral, grounded in the Anglo-American religious tradition. When we act as a nation, we tend to act in that tradition, respecting what we recognize as its obligations. The result is that our actions have generally been just and courageous. We have not always lived up to our highest ideals, but we have seldom slipped far below them. It is impossible to know what challenges will confront the United States in the years ahead, but there is reason to believe that we have within us the resources to meet and overcome them.
There have been bad Presidents before of course, but I don’t think any of them set out deliberately to impoverish America in order to impose what anyone with half a brain knows is a failed ideology and in order to leave her unable to meet the challenge of the deadly totalitarianism that is Islam. One wonders at his motivations, Islamism, Marxism, Messiahnism, seem almost inadequate to fully explain the idiot ideology he suffers from. An overarching thought that takes them all in as useful tools in his scheme to bring down the US is that he is simply anti-American because he isn’t an American, he is an alien, and this is what he has managed to hide with the help of the aforementioned -isms and the help of the useful idiots of the MSM.

Here, watch before your eyes as the cancer that devours the free world masticates into yet another colony of diseased poverty pimps. You can almost understand why jihadists just say fuck it and start killing indiscriminately.

Progressives Breeding New Mutants
A group of liberal bloggers said it is teaming up with organized labor and MoveOn to form a political action committee that will seek to push the Democratic Party farther to the left.
Soliciting donations from their readers, the bloggers said they are planning to recruit liberal candidates for challenges against more centrist Democrats currently in Congress.
The formation of the group marks another step in the evolution of the blogosphere, which has proved effective at motivating party activists to give money and time to political campaigns, especially in local races.
But it also illuminates a deepening wrinkle for President Barack Obama, whose attempt to build a broad governing coalition — often by tempering some of his more liberal previous positions — has already angered some of his supporters on the left.
[...]
Organizers of the new group, to be called Accountability Now, said their intention is to enable Obama to seek more liberal policies without fear of losing support from the more conservative members of his party serving in Congress. But they did not rule out occasional friction with Obama, as well.
“We’re going to be about targeting incumbents to make space for Obama to be more progressive,” said Glen Greenwald*****, a liberal blogger with Salon who is part of the effort. “There may be other times when the Democratic Party, as led by Obama, is being unresponsive, so yeah, we have the potential to push back against that, as well.” (Source) (My bold)
