The Stupid Obamamaniacs.

Do check out this post at The Right Coast which in turn links to this post by Claudia Rosett.

Our only hope is that the American people, or at least the half that have been sucked in by the Obamessiah, or at least enough of them, see soon what they have done. Too bad the media don’t do their job, could be they recognise that they are paying the price and their only hope of survival is a taxpayer funded bail out. It’s all so un-American.

There is cause for optimism however, generally it’s the American people in whom I still have faith, specifically it lies in the likes of Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal and now Brigitte Gabriel. Brigitte Who? From American Thinker comes this:

A compelling conservative
Ed Kaitz
Those searching for brilliant, passionate, and compelling messengers to lead the conservative movement into the future might want to consider the Lebanese born and multilingual dynamo Brigitte Gabriel.

Gabriel is a worldly, fearless former Middle East journalist whose mind runs on twelve cylinders and who more than anything else is an American patriot. She is also a genuine and moving speaker who has a warning for us all. Don’t let her engaging smile distract you from her profound and chilling message.

The Heritage Foundation hosted Brigitte for an absolutely riveting presentation back in 2006. If you missed the speech, grab something to drink, a comfortable chair, and be prepared to laugh, cry, and be inspired.

Brigitte also has a website where you can check out her other important work and publications.

    From your first link:

There are different streams of ideas on today’s political left than there were in the 1930s. There is the idea that prosperity and growth are bad: bad for the “planet”, hostile to the environment, vulgar, and linked to immoral individualism. There is the idea that a humbler, poorer, less powerful America would be a good thing.

It is just so unreal to imagine that Americans, too many, have become a people who prefers weakness over strength, servitude over power, poverty over wealth, impotence over fecundity, death over life. How does suicide infect a nation?

And might I add that anyone who believes individualism to be immoral ought to put out of their misery.

Zee, I believe it is all a lot simpler than we realize. What motivates most people is fear, fear of having to face the truth of just who and what they are. What we are witnessing is the intellectual contortions of people so terrified of facing their own true self, they will go to any lengths to hide that gnawing truth, most especially from themselves.

The human psyche, stripped of its trappings of faux intellect, is a barren place, terrifying in its extreme emptiness. It is a no go zone for most of humanity, for the simple reason…that it is the individual soul staring straight into the abyss, not a pretty sight, and what is more, with nothing and no place to seek comfort and redemption. It is the ultimate place of personal responsibility, a place to be avoided like the plague. Yes, there are some exceptions, but they are so very rare. No, what we are witness to is an entire culture which has lived on borrowed time, playing the immature student revolutionary, all the while, hiding from the real truth, for at heart, humanity is scared stiff of real consequence, and its attendant usher – death.

People seek refuge in an escape from the actuality of their own, very bleak existence. This may appear a cold and hard opinion, but the Roman writer Lucretius recognized it in its simplicity 2ooo years ago, when he wrote …

“That fear of Acheron be sent packing which troubles the life of man from its deepest depths, suffuses all with the blackness of death, and leaves no delight clean and pure”.

The weak run from themselves, for courage is a commodity in short supply where narcissism crowds out all other considerations, and blinds virtue to its own corruptions.

Acheron was of course the ferryman on the river Styx.

I would like to add, that I think Brigitte Gabriel is a genuine heroine, who has gazed into the face of Acheron and laughed, I tip my hat to a real woman of courage and plain old common sense.

Her resolution in the face of the adversities of her own life, leaves the petulant vanities of our celebrity culture, very vulnerably exposed for what they are….nothings.

You say it well JAR, and Obama is the slave driver [ha ha] driving the people into dependency on the gov which further alienates them from religion and from themselves, but don’t worry, there will be a great awakening in about six months from now. Working against that assertion of course is how come it didn’t happen six months ago? The difference of course is that people will have the results of Obamism in plain sight, it will become less and less easy to deceive themselves.

The only problem Ligneus1, is that the majority are simply not paying any real attention to just what is going on…it’s all so boring man, doncha know. Today’s youth, just isn’t interested…too wrapped up in doing their own thing. I should know, I’ve got two sons, who are at least vaguely aware, though that’s not saying too much, (they think their old man is a bit nuts), but as for their friends, forgetaboutit.

No, what we are witness to is an entire culture which has lived on borrowed time

I have thought about that phrase off and on these past few years. I heard an expert on jihad use it shortly after 9.11 in reference to the inroads Islam was making. At the time I brushed it off, but the thought lingers… Really, by the time I was born (50′s), my first breath was likely borrowed, if the rot began in the early 1900s, as I am learning.

And they swoon with it Richard. It is as if their delirium grows more extreme with each passing week and it reminds me of the fervency of denial, the compulsion to ululate and dance and drown out all portent of evil and it is exactly as you say-

The weak run from themselves, for courage is a commodity in short supply where narcissism crowds out all other considerations, and blinds virtue to its own corruptions.

Her’s is a beauty, grace, and resilience that sins chills down the backs of the Courics,Walters, and Sarrandons, in turn producing the “the intellectual contortions of people so terrified of facing their own true self” that you speak of, faced as they are with their comparative emptiness. They are husks of human beings, dust glittering with broken baubles….

I do so hope you are right Ligneus but , Lord, I do think, anymore, that they do wish to deceive themselves. Very, very much.

Six months of Obama screwing up the economy and the Iranians, Russians etc. strutting the world stage like stag turkeys while Obama does his Jimmy Carter doing Uriah Heep impression, I think a few of them might start to notice.
