Uh Oh!-bama.

The latest weather report shows a big black [oops] cloud and a deepening depression forming over Democratic Party Headquarters. The Obarometer is falling fast and the forecasters are calling for increasing amounts of hot air with the hope that this will reverse the trend but there is a danger that it could feed the hurricane that is heading their way. They have a choice of battening down the hatches and trying to ride out the storm or hoping the high pressure system blowing in from New York bringing a big fat blonde white cloud will snuff out the newborn baby’s life guttering candle that is all that remains of the light of the glory of the coming of the One, or something.

Well they’re going to have to do something quick, there isn’t much time to Denver, let us pray not enough.

Hugh Hewitt on the Ayers/Obama friendship and the Annenberg Challenge.

The cover-up continues. What did the foundation do? Where did the money go? (That’s a lot of money.) How much was Obama paid? How much did the Obama-led foundation funnel to Ayers? To other south side figures like Jeremiah Wright and Father Phleger? How closely did Obama and Ayers work on the foundation’s business? Can we get a look at the expense accounts please?

Lig Pic.

Way back in the fifties when I got my first serious camera, a Contaflex 1, and Kodak brought out the fabulous Tri X, the first high speed b and w film, originally ASA 200 then ASA 400 but could be pushed to 800 or even 1600 with special development, available light photography became fashionable. And so, since what we start with seems to form pathways in the brain, [which is why the aging boomers still listen to the Beatles and the Beach Boys], I still love the special quality of indoors available light even though the pics are usually a bit grainy, or ‘noisy’ now that it’s digital instead of film. I’ve copied an old print from 1958, fifty years ago!, taken on Tri X, and though not indoors, it was quite low light level. One of my brothers giving advice to another brother working on his bike, if I’d had a wide angle lens in those days I could have taken the whole scene instead of having to take two pics. Note the ever present teacup and with a saucer even!

Spare a thought for Alan Sullivan, whose cancer is again advancing and whose treatment has run its course. It’s a damn shame.

Steve Fossett.

A report in The Daily Telegraph states that adventurer Steve Fossett may have faked his own death.

Fossett’s disappearance sparked the biggest search in American history, with the Civil Air Patrol’s Black Hawks, fitted with infra-red technology, joined by over 30 private planes and internet experts scanning the Nevada desert looking for clues.

Lt Col Ryan believes Fossett may have faked his own death due to personal problems or fears about his business dealings.

If you read the article you will probably agree that it all looks highly suspicious. The thing that gets me about people like this is, don’t they care about the enormous effort they cause to be made by other people? And the expense? I guess the taxpayer foots the bill, the poor benighted tax payer, like it’s free money to all these people. Then there is the danger to the searchers of an accident causing death or injury and more destruction of someone else’s property. Don’t they care? Doesn’t it matter that they do all that just to avoid facing up to whatever problems they have? I start to admire people who really do commit suicide to escape their problems.

Time for a Katy pic taken today, uncharacteristically serene! Had the white balance on the camera set to 3500K from the normal daylight 5000K, gives a nice effect I think, I’ll have to do a bit more work on it, take some of the pink out of the face. I have July’s tree pic when I can get around to posting it.

Y’all…..

……must read this.

And this.

Some day it may begin to dawn on attentive observers that Obama represents a type that flourishes on many college campuses. The technical term that applies to Obama is b.s. artist. Obama is an overaged example of the phenomenon, but his skills in the art have brought him great success and he’s not giving it up now.

Was there ever such a joke running for President of the good old US of A.

Discussion at Fresh Bilge.

I’ve been involved in a discussion at Fresh Bilge where I got into something of an argument with Tatyana one of his commenters. This is one of my comments:

I’ve just been for a walk in the ravine in the snow with my camera and naturally a few thoughts occurred.
In one sense I’m in complete agreement with Tatyana. There is no God, no Creator as such, we live in a big, cold, indifferent universe. One fine, or not so fine, day our sun will end all our days, our beautiful existence will vanish as if it never existed. Schubert’s music will be gone and an infinite number of monkeys with scratchy quill pens will never bring it back, but it will have existed, nothing can take that away and that is the kind of immortality or afterlife if you like that awaits. Which also applies to ‘us’ and if that comforts some all well and good.
So there is ‘us’, the earth, the universe, also time and space and infinity, the physicists’ question, why is there something rather than nothing? All a great mystery, and there are those who use the word God for that mystery, when really there shouldn’t be a name which is why in Judaism there isn’t one. There is the answer Moses got, ‘I am what I am’. It is this realisation that there is more than we can know and something outside ourselves that is behind the religious impulse and to reduce it to paper cut outs as Tatyana is doing, even though unfortunately it does apply to too many, is to do a dis-service to a great number of very impressive people who have struggled with these difficult questions. Among that number I would include the current Pope, and the reason Tatyana should check out his writings as well as Melanie Phillips, who she seemingly hasn’t heard of, is that she might learn something.
