White Working Class, Rednecks, and Hillbillies

I’m reading an interesting, if depressing, piece on the destruction of Great Britain’s white working class (WWC), as observed by a sympathizer in the white liberal middle class (WLMC). I’m not quite sure what the American counterpart is to the WWC referred to, but I imagine it would be those folks whom the American “progressives” here snigger at as the rednecks, the knuckle dragging cowboys and other sneering caricatures representative of the oh-so-tolerant and loving nature found in abundance on the left.

Now the yuppies, as I still refer to them – though I guess that appellation may be dated – but they are the bubble-headed, well-heeled, elitist pretenders to more class than they actually have (thus they are suckers for Target’s marketing ploy of depicting K-mart caliber shopping as stylish and hip, but, I digress). Empty headed Obama freaks and aging harridans for Hillary, all swooning to the vision of their coming socialist utopia, parroting the lines of unity and harmony and oneness, except…. when it comes to the rednecks.

Where rednecks and working folks and plain old hillbillies are concerned, the diversity troops seem to come staggering to a clumsy stop. Diversity becomes tongue tied and incoherent anywhere the elites are up close and personal with the face that looks too much like their own. That white ordinary face that whispers the truth, that, but for fate, they could easily be the waitress, the limo driver, the carpenter or store clerk standing in front of them. And it scares the shit out of them.

“…are just observed at a distance, like the animals they are perceived to be by the snobs. WLMC academics at this point like to bring in the concept of “The Other”. The WLMC know that the WWC hate “The Other” – the blacks, the Asians, the Muslims. But it does not occur to them that they themselves are the greatest Other-haters of all, in their revulsion of the WWC who are too close to themselves for comfort, and whom they use to project upon their own sins, their own real and reverse racism.

Read the whole thing. The parallels between America and Great Britain are more than disconcerting. Here we go, marching down the same multicultural hellhole yet, all we have to do is look across the ocean and see our own miserable future.

Describing the many betrayals the WWC has suffered in the hands of their elite, the writer goes on to say that they “have learned to be quiet and to be ashamed of who they are and accept that they aren’t “good” like the WLMC, who lived in all-white enclaves and to whom multiculturalism meant a nice Continental deli at the end of the road.”

Perhaps so it is in Great Britain, but I doubt you’ll find such shame here, at least I hope to god not. This is one proud redneck who has never learned how to be “good” and I ain’t about to take a lesson.

Signs of the RINO Disease

Here is a Republican showing every sign of being afflicted with RINO disease. Symptoms include an inability to get the nature of free speech.

Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.

The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site…. Their full name would be used anytime a comment is posted.

And the site owner gets fined $500 if they fail to crack the whip.

Other evidence of the liberal disease infecting this supposedly conservative politician is this notion that people need protection from bullies.

Representative Couch says he filed the bill in hopes of cutting down on online bullying. He says that has especially been a problem in his Eastern Kentucky district.

Couch, old buddy, I’d say you need to grow a pair so that you know how it feels to walk around without flinching at the thought of bullies. If you are going about nattering in consternation over mean and nasty remarks left in comments, I can’t imagine how far you’d flee or high pitched your scream would be if you read a few muslim sites advocating the death of Americans. Are you going to go after them for bullying, Couch?

If you want to tell Couch to grow a pair, or something more civil, drop him a note here. Perhaps with intervention, he can be saved from his slide into decay, and ultimately, progressivism.

Conservative Speak Disconcerting to NPR Lemmings

“Progressive” listeners of NPR display their typical lack of tolerance for all things conservative.

National Public Radio listeners who tuned in to “Morning Edition” during the last four days of February found some atypical programming around 6:30 a.m. during the broadcasts.

“Conversations with Conservatives” was heard during morning-drive time with host Steve Inskeep and a conservative of the day with much on his mind.

NPR Morning Edition listeners — there are 13 million a week — were not especially pleased in the aftermath of the broadcast segments, which lasted about seven minutes each.

According to NPR ombudsman Alicia Shepard, more than 60 angry e-mails and phone calls arrived at the network, calling the programming “shameful” and a “lovefest with radical, right-wing nuts.” There were only a few, she said, that praised the series as “refreshing” and “articulate,” among other things..

Good, they had a taste of what civil people in this country have to listen to every time they turn on a sit com or CSI or Law and Order… well, actually it’s the entire entertainment industry. The progressive dogma that get’s inserted into scripts, plots, and the dialog ensures that there is no end of liberal slop to wade through. And they get upset with a small dose of conservative thought? But then, fresh air might be a shock for those who are still inhaling the sixties.

The Real Revo says very well what I would wish to say about this woman, but, alas, I can’t find a civil word in my head when contemplating the ever so disconsolate Michelle (is she proud yet) Obama.

I have to tell you, of all the maddening aspects of a maddening political campaign, this is the worst. Listening to this spoiled woman piss and moan about lack of opportunity is a lesson in hypocrisy. Her very existence disproves the position she is promoting. Michelle Obama is more successful and than all but a tiny fraction of all humans who have ever lived. She has more wealth, health, education, power and admiration than 99.99% of all Americans of all races. She wasn’t born to her high position in life. She attained it from humble beginnings in a middle class African American family in South Chicago. She attained her wealth and status by living in a time and place in history where great opportunity is available to all who are willing to work to achieve it. That should be her message: America provides opportunities for great success to those willing to put in the effort.

The State Wants Your Children and Obama and Hillary Will Deliver Them

I find it amazing that I am actually contemplating how to protect my grandchildren from the state. With one in elementary school and four more who will be boarding the yellow bus for their first day of school within six years, I find myself grappling with how I could organize a home school.

When I grew up, family was sacrosanct. The threshold to one’s home was a sacred barrier that could be breached only by invitation. The school system served the parent with minimal intrusion and teachers were public servants entrusted with the mission of reaching the 3 Rs, not bringing their lesbian girlfriends to class for alternate lifestyle days. Families, who so chose, could opt for any form of private education that they could afford. The freedom to teach your children in the manner and in the way that you would have them go, was inviolate.

I don’t quite remember when the state started crossing those boundaries. Certainly not when I was a child. My family took month long vacations and the school had no say in it. Teachers prepared extra work for those weeks I’d miss and talk of truancy or mandatory attendance was unheard of. So were student rights, children’s’ rights or a phone number to report parents for alleged abuse.

But it seems that wherever “progressive” thought has wafted through the empty minds of the vapid young, dry rot of spirit, spine and soul are soon to follow. Somewhere in the sixties or seventies I guess, colleges started spitting out little automatons wound up tight with social engineering zeal and a teaching degree.

For the sake of the children.

“For the sake of the children” is a phrase that has suffered more abuse from the left than a whore pulling a train. For the sake of the children has spawned legions of intrusive social workers, school counselors, and “interventions” bringing us to the point where we are forced to witness the lunacy of grief counseling any time the student body suffers a death. When the hell did the horror of personal grief become a spectacle sport, some freaking maudlin tribal orgy, where even death is raped of dignity?

When the hell did it become any of my freaking business that the coach impregnated his daughter’s best friend. Jail the freak, get the kid counseling and STFU. Don’t make ten years worth of “Movies of the Week”, microscopically examining the underbelly of family life in America. Don’t indoctrinate children with a lexicon of sexual abuse while simultaneously getting them familiar with the idea that cutting their penis off or sewing one on is a future option.

From when teachers were at worst; innocuous, at best; an inspiration and ultimately, no more than a faded memory – to now when they have morphed into the brown shirts of the new regime. If they say your kid needs Ritalin, any reluctance on your part to oblige will be interpreted as “neglect” and social services will be ringing your door. Not only will you be mandated to relinquish your children’s bodies to whatever chemical the elite gurus of modern psychology deem will sufficiently tame your little beast, you will be ordered to relinquish their sexuality to be molded by the gender-less high priests of tolerance. For you to object is tantamount to blasphemy and you will be reported as a hate monger.

And if you hope to nurture in your children’s heart a love for America you’d best start demonstrating reverence for flag, nation, and hearth from the day you bring them home from the hospital until the day the state sucks them from your arms into the maelstrom of America-loathing, flag-burning soldiers of the greater good who will do their damnedest to transform that American flag into a stake that they will plunge into the heart of your child’s love of country.

A new plan by a California lawmaker would allow schools to be used to promote the overthrow of the U.S. government, and let teachers in public district classrooms “inculcate in the mind of any pupil a preference for communism,” according to a traditional values advocacy organization. “Just when we thought the indoctrination in California’s public schools couldn’t get any worse, state lawmakers introduce bills that will further brainwash innocent children,” said a statement from Capitol Resource Institute, a traditional values and family advocacy organization based in California. [...] Her organization, along with several others, already has been battling over lawmakers’ orders, already placed in law, that public schools in the state teach nothing but positive messages about homosexuality, transsexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyles. And so, I’m thinking, we will just hunker down, keep all the grand kids in home school, get them well positioned to pursue what they love and work towards reversing this country’s wicked mad dance over the cliff. If the recent ruling in California is any indication, I’m gonna have to think again.

A “breathtaking” ruling from a California appeals court that could subject the parents of 166,000 students in the state to criminal sanctions will be taken to the state Supreme Court. The announcement comes today from the Pacific Justice Institute, whose president, Brad Dacus, described the impact of the decision as “stunning.” “The scope of this decision by the appellate court is breathtaking,” he said. “It not only attacks traditional home schooling, but also calls into question home schooling through charter schools and teaching children at home via independent study through public and private school.” “If not reversed, the parents of the more than 166,000 students currently receiving an education at home will be subject to criminal sanctions,” he said.

A government bureaucrat in Germany says that nation demands all children attend government-approved schools because they all must be “integrated” into society the same way. “This is one of the great developments of the 19th century towards emancipation and democracy,” a recently dated letter to a home school advocate said. WND has reported a number of times on Germany’s aggressive enforcement of its Hitler-era ban on homeschooling, and even when parents decided they would flee to Iran to seek a less-oppressive educational environment for their child. One German student, Melissa Busekros, at one point simply was taken into custody by members of a team of police officers and confined to a mental institution for her crime of being home schooled.

Don’t vote for socialism in 2008. Hillary and Obama can’t wait to turn your kid into a good citizen in service to the greater good. And you? You will be sent to re-education camp, because, Obama warned us – can’t say he didn’t issue a harbinger of what is to come – you will have no choice. And that is more chump change from the would be Messiah.

Mr. Obama argues that the right of parents to be involved in the lives of their minor children is limited by the government’s determination whether the children are either fearful or are convinced the notification of an event will disappoint parents. He goes on to argue that parents need only be involved in their children’s lives when they can “be open with us and loving toward us, and we toward them.” He is argues that, since the “Big Brother Federal Government” cannot force openness and lovingness, the familial bond need not be honored at all.

The logical extension of Mr. Obama’s argument is that the parent-child relationship is not a natural right, but a privilege granted by the government. Anytime the government deems some aspect of that relationship – no matter how inconsequential – to be unacceptable, it may be severed by the state.

Terrorist Threat by Muslim Female Student Against UIC [Candace de Russy]

Yesterday, reports former police chief Jim Kouri, the FBI arrested Mahtab Shirani, a Muslim woman enrolled at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Shirani is alleged to have sent an anonymous e-mail to a university administrator threatening a repeat of the shooting incident that had taken place the previous day at Northern Illinois University. The threat stated that a group of five individuals would carry out the attack sometime during the spring 2008 semester.

The FBI praised the campus police department and the administrative staff for dealing with the threat professionally and expeditiously. Kudos to both the campus police and the FBI for preventing a potential terrorist act as well as alarm on campus.

The Cost of Bleeding Hearts

I often wonder how much healthier our economy would be if the bleeding hearts and the earth worshippers hadn’t been busy gutting America with their damn welfare programs as well as all of the barriers that they have erected that impede developing our oil, coal, and nuclear resources.

I don’t have the numbers that would demonstrate how much cheaper energy would be if the fools hadn’t been  permitted to strangle us with environmental regulations and development bans, but a commenter at LGF offers a brief synopsis that clearly demonstrates that illegal aliens cost the US far more treasure than the war in Iraq.

Not as if that would faze the nattering, chattering Kumbyah brigades. “Progressives” like Obama and Hillary would love nothing more than to see America transformed into one of the third world countries that they so admire. Random Thoughts on "Racism"

Back in 2001 I had my political awakening to race-card politics duly blogged under the heading “Is This White Woman Racist and Does She Really Fucking Care”. This was in response to the so-called Cincinnati riots. (Here is the local media’s politically correct distortion of the events, and here is the correct assessment.) As I review those early posts I can trace my journey from someone who had absolutely no issues with any race or ethnicity to my present views on racism.

As a pre-teen, I was not a participant in any civil rights movement, wasn’t particularly aware of it, but never had any perception of blacks as inferior. I think what frightened me most, as I remember, was associating poverty with blacks. My mother, born shortly after her parents immigrated from Yugoslavia, was thrust into an orphanage at a young age and her dire tales of want and hardships chilled me as a child, leaving me far more wary of that particular condition, no matter what color skin bore witness to it.

It actually is very hard for me to think in terms of ethnicity. I have never felt need to make claim to my Romanian-Serbian roots nor lament the plight of my gypsy kin in Transylvania. My daddy grabbed his American name from a billboard and proceeded to move himself steadily up the economic ladder.

By the time I was born, he had turned his allotment of rags into riches, and I was, quite frankly, a spoiled little rich girl, without the attendant social status. I felt we had much in common with the Beverly Hillbillies. My dad may have known how to make a buck, but uneducated white men who sold cars for a living didn’t get much respect in the wealthy neighborhood I grew up in. And my dad, an independent cuss, could not have cared less. But there was never a moment in my life that I defined myself, or others, according to blood, skin or lineage.

Black men worked for my father at the dealership. He also hired them to cut our grass and paint our home. There wasn’t a disparaging word uttered by my parents. They were treated like any other contractor that came to the house.

I do have vague memories of the Cincinnati riots in 1966. Those were actual riots. I remember my dad getting the gun out of the safe. In retrospect, our neighborhood was so far from Cincinnati center that the likelihood of anyone driving out to do us rich folks harm was minimal. But he didn’t talk about shooting “niggers”. The word wasn’t in the home and my guess is he would have gotten the gun out no matter what race was having a riot.

But here’s the rub. It isn’t about civil rights anymore. It’s about victimhood. It’s not about equality. It’s about extortion. It’s not about unity. It’s about vengeance and pay back. Obama dresses it up with flourishes of pompous rhetoric and spices it with the incense of mysticism but it’s the same ole same ole race, entitlement and “justice” rhetoric that constituted “dialog” during the riots here in 2001.

When trying to debate racism in some local Cincinnati forums in the aftermath of the riots, I argued with one fellow accordingly.

…for those of you who claim to know the white man so damn well, I would counter, you better look again. You think you know the white race but, by virtue of your incessant self-obsession and constant caterwauling, you have failed to see you are dealing with a generation of white people who have, for the most part, from childhood on, stepped all over themselves trying not to offend a black person.

Should we say black, or is it negro, or now is it colored, oh, now it’s african-American – and god forbid you inadvertently say the frigging ‘N’ word lest everyone shatter like so many fragile humpty dumpties and we have another damn mess to clean up.

You’ve been insulting and alienating a generation of people who have taught their children to respect all people and immediately challenged REAL racist, behavior. A generation who has enjoyed and appreciated the appearance of more and more visible black performers, newscasters, journalists, analysts and personalities. Not as material for the purpose of caricaturing black people, as so often accused, but for the brilliant HUMAN talent there to be enjoyed.

And guess what? It wasn’t hard. Counter to what you appear to believe, there is no a cauldron of repressed black hatred lingering in the white heart. We don’t connive in small circles to make a black man’s day bad. There is no boogie man.

The charge of racism today has become no more than a handy shibboleth intended to silence all criticism. It no longer holds weight with me. It is another word hollowed out of all meaning by the language re-framers on the left.

I finally quit attempting to communicate with the activists, but came away from the entire experience with a far more informed view on race and civil rights than ever supplied to me in school or via the PC media.

Below is the conclusion I reached in 2002 and it hasn’t changed in 2008. In fact, events in the intervening years have only strengthened my position. My guess is, the “unexpected consequences” of multiculturalism and political correctness that abets race-card politics has resulted in multitudes of Americans feeling about the same.

I began this venture trying to grasp what the perception of racism is and what I have found is this; because I ascribe to a particular set of principles and standards, because I adhere to a particular work ethic, because I disdain mewling dramatics and solipsism, because I demand accountability and responsibility…in other words, because of my values, I am deemed a racist.
So be it.
I am not going to cheapen my standards to accommodate some distorted version of civil rights. I’m not going to subscribe to a crippled social doctrine as define by malcontents just to appease the likes of you and your gang. Your quest for ‘equal treatment’ has served to lower the bar in every field of endeavor, but, I assure you, you will not continue with such chicanery. There are more more and more un-hyphenated Americans who know when to say the madness has gone on far too long.

I’ll be brief. I’m gasping for air actually. I just got my internet connection back after a two day, unexpected, loss of service. Yikes! I am aghast that yet again my addictive personality has found yet another addiction to foster. I need to catch up with email and comments so ask your indulgence with yet another golden oldie.

It was a relief, in a way, to not read of the three pretenders to America’s throne, or about muslims seething, nor progressives chanting hosannas to their new born king. But, as mentioned earlier, I am putting up archives (in a helter skelter manner) and this old post only serves to summon forth the deeper anger I hold for those who are intent on slaughtering America’s spirit like an oxen offered up for sacrifice in a desperate attempt to allay the wrath of the gods.

I come from a family of wanderers and drivers. At 16 I stuck my thumb out and began a decade of crisscrossing this country, weaving America’s highways into my heart with every mile. As I have written elsewhere…

….from infancy, my heart became syncopated to the slick, sweet click of rubber tires bearing down on asphalt, the command of clutch changing gears, the sweet susurrous chortle of a purring engine. For a child translating her world on the basis of seeking escape, the apparent movement of a driver became a code etched into the walls of my soul.
I am, simply, to the road born.

I will never forgive those who are making it quite likely that my grandchildren will never know the ineluctable freedom of disappearing into the heart of America. It is from that place in me that i jotted out the following a few years back.

Back Then, In America

I am haunted by America. I am haunted by the raw power her past still commands. I look deep inside this picture and I can feel the thunder of her engines thrumming. Deep under the earth. They still sing.

Creeping Sharia: This Is How They Do It

Editors note: I have five years of archived posts in one file that I will have to hand post individually into this WordPress platform and it is, indeed, a daunting task. There are all kinds of extra squiggles and code that needs to be ferreted out and deleted, links updated and images found. So expect to get hit with some golden oldies as I plunge ahead with this task. If I am to make any inroads, time to write new posts will be a bit truncated.

But, sadly, what I wrote about back in 2004, when the below was posted, is even more relevant today.

In 2004 I remember thinking, we still have time, that the culturally imperialist Sharia mongers couldn’t possibly infiltrate so pervasively and thoroughly in America as they have in Europe.

I was wrong. This post describes one instance, of thousands, of an ongoing national effort to promote “understanding” under the guise of “ecumenical out reach” between muslims and Christians. Christian churches – apparently as gutted by “progressive” infiltration as the rest of America – are blindly providing trojan horse groups like CAIR center stage.

And most of you have probably read about the “redneck” baiting ABC is doing on behalf of CAIR. That still angers me so much that I can’t yet write about it.

But I touch on the evidence of “creeping sharia” in this post. And all of this to set up a post describing how blatantly Great Britain’s muslims are defying western law and defiling western culture. Hell, it ain’t creeping sharia anymore, it’s freaking marching across the continent. But, that’s the next post.

Gee. Free Toilets. That’s Socialism for You

I see how this might work. See, the socialists in Washington state have a head start on Obama. Washingtonians are going to buy all of their poor neighbors new toilets.

Help is on the way for low-income homeowners wanting to cut water consumption and utility bills. Seattle Public Utilities is offering qualified homeowners the opportunity to replace old, water-wasting toilets with free, new, efficient ones. The new models should save thousands of gallons of water each year and more than $100 a year on utility bills, according to program organizers.

Anyway, the messianic wanna-be Obama mentioned that he is going to have

taxpayers underwrite everyone’s indoctrination college education if they volunteer as brown shirts.

I suggest he send his merry bands of fledgling socialists to install these free toilets around the country. I also suggest that he supply them with toilet paper and command have them teach all of us poor, helpless Americans how to wipe our asses.

Why not? Obama’s vision for America doesn’t rise far above the sewer anyway. I mean, I’m just practicing how to “measure our greatness by the least of these…” Is that kinda what you mean, oh-great- messiah, when you suggest I need to ” fix my soul“? I have yet to hear a remark from a politician that has made me so livid. That’s why the free toilets reminded me of you and your chump change, Obama.

My guess is you are much more knowledgeable about matters closer to issues of sewage than you are about the condition of America’s soul. Until your vision rises out of the toilet Obama, you ain’t talking to me..

So come on Obama baby, just tell everyone how you want your ass wiped. I’m sure there are thousands of pathetic “progressives” who will be delighted to undertake the task.

As for me, my sights are set much, much higher. And I don’t need your stinkin’ help.

Barack Obama is promising to end partisanship in Washington, and here’s a place to start: He could stop playing politics with the Federal Election Commission in a way that could hamper John McCain’s campaign against, well, Mr. Obama.

The Illinois Senator is blocking confirmation of one of President Bush’s appointees to the FEC, which administers election laws. This has left the agency two commissioners short of the quorum it needs to make decisions — with the potential for direct harm to Mr. McCain’s campaign. As we’ve been writing, the Arizona Senator took out a controversial $1 million loan that FEC Chairman David Mason has said might lock him into the public finance system for the primary season. Mr. McCain doesn’t want to do that because he’d have to abide by spending limits that would reduce his campaigning this spring and summer. Mr. Mason says the FEC needs to rule on the matter, but without a quorum Mr. McCain is left hanging.

Freaking Arrogant and Demanding Muslims: Get Over Yourselves

Any group of people who stick their asses up in the air five times a day certainly do not need be accommodated. Take your prayers and your foot baths and your allah and stick them where the sun don’t shine.

MUSLIM university students want lectures to be rescheduled to fit in with prayer timetables and separate male and female eating and recreational areas established on Australian campuses.

International Muslim students, predominantly from Saudi Arabia, have asked universities in Melbourne to change class times so they can attend congregational prayers. They also want a female-only area for Muslim students to eat and relax.

But at least one institution has rejected their demands, arguing that the university is secular and it does not want to set a precedent for requests granted in the name of religious beliefs.

La Trobe University International chief officer John Molony said several students had approached the Bundoora institution about rearranging class times to fit in with daily prayers.

Mr Molony said the university was attempting to “meet the needs” of an increasing number of Muslim international students, including doubling the size of the prayer room on campus.

La Trobe University International College director Martin Van Run said that although it was involved in discussions with the Muslim students who had made the requests, the university was not planning to change any timetables.

And so CAIR and other Islamic apologists, along with the the dhimmi media, would have you believe. And so you have, for the most part. Yes, folks are starting to wake up but, too many yet choose to accept the bromides from the silky snaked tongues of Islamists who know how well cultivated the field of America’s naïveté is.

A little while back the Jawa Report posted links to a video that records a 12 year old beheading a prisoner. He also links to a bonus feature where death was delivered to  living prisoners via fire. Sounds like torture doesn’t it? Oh, silly me, waterboarding is torture. I forgot. My PC chip must be malfunctioning.

Why? Why does Jawa post them? Why do I, or anybody, post about that ugly barbarous ritual at all?

Because the media won’t. Because Hollywood won’t make an honest movie about it. Few journalists will touch it and you can bet your last dollar nary one presidential contender will allude to it. They have a hard enough time spitting out the word jihad.

Not to worry. Those muslims who find this manner of slaughter commendable regularly post videos and images of their proud achievements. And their appreciative allah-besotted audience eats it up.

And I only can assume the folks at CAIR must be entirely oblivious to it because surely, an organization so damn convinced that their religion is maliciously maligned would really get their panties in a wad if they knew muslims were proudly mutilating men and women, bragging about it, and damn, all in the name of Allah. (spit) Right?

Hell, one devotee of the practice wrote poetic odes, lovingly detailing the subtle killing skills she so obviously savors. What, does she tenderly caress the image of the severed neck in her mind? Does she taste blood while she composes various stanzas? Will she read her poems to her children?

Tell Obama We Want Guns!

Perhaps some of the change Obama will offer is a new theater of war. After all, the current conflict in Kenya features Obama’s cousin, Raila Odinga, a man currently accused of ethnic cleansing as his Luo tribesmen protest his election day loss. One can only hope that Obama’s American contingent of rabid fans are not quite as excitable as his cousin’s fans in Africa.

As they wave machetes with gleaming blades, rioters in Kenya’s sprawling slums say they have two things on their minds: protesting Kenya’s presidential election and Barack Obama.

The US presidential candidate — whose father is Kenyan — is a favourite son of the nation which erupted into violence after hotly-contested elections in December.

President Mwai Kibaki has claimed victory in the December 27 vote but opposition leader Raila Odinga said the polls were rigged while international observers have cited serious flaws.

About 1,000 people have since died in ethnic clashes, riots and looting.

The ethnic clashes have fueled Obama fever, with members of the Luo ethnic group rallying behind Obama, whose father was a Luo.

“Obama!” a group of Luo men shouted in unison, as they stood guard at a makeshift roadblock near the entrance of Kibera, Kenya’s biggest shantytown outside Nairobi.

“We are supporting him here. We want him to win the election,” said Mohammed Noor, 27. “Did you know that Obama’s father is also Luo?” he added.

What role does Islam play? Reading so far suggests it isn’t the prime militating factor, but, it is definitely in the mix. There certainly are the tell tale signs indicating that the true believers are operative – like a church full of burning Christians – torched by Odinga’s Luo tribe.

A mob torched a church where hundreds had sought refuge Tuesday, and witnesses said dozens of people — including children — were burned alive or hacked to death with machetes in ethnic violence that followed Kenya’s disputed election.

It matters little whether individual Kenyans view this as a religious war, the purveyors of Jihad intend to swallow Kenya as well.

Islamic governments have targeted Kenya as a key element in the spread of Islam in Horn of Africa and ultimately the world. The Kenyan Diaspora including Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Hussein Obama has also played a part. The fall of Kenya into Islamist control would be devastating to anti-terrorist activities in the Horn of Africa, not to mention the potential for expansion of a caliphate. One has to ask, how fast will Kenya go Islamic and apply Shariah law?

There is no doubt Obama will have his hand in Africa…. “In his speech to well-wishers, Obama expressed a deep sense of solidarity with this small community and the Kenyan people…” … and it appears that Bush is paving the way for him.

I am not comfortable with a would-be president whose brother is a Muslim, whose cousin, if not Islamic, shares Obama’s populist/socialist ideology. I’d like him to declare unequivocally his denunciation of sharia law. Fat chance.

But when you consider the ideological similarities between the totalism in socialism and Islam, you can see where, like in England, sharia law easily insinuates itself through the rot multiculturalism has bred.

And that is one of many, many reasons for me to work furiously to see that Obama never steps a foot into the White House – except when McCain has some chores for him to do.

McCain/_______:Who Will be the Running Mate?

I am enjoying the speculations of Gullyborg at “Resistance is Futile” as to who John McCain will choose as his running mate.

He nails McCain’s manipulation of Huckabee….

….my real point is that McCain won’t choose Huckabee as his running mate. He played Huckabee, got him to stay in the race long enough to force out Thompson, Giuliani, and Romney… now he serves no purpose and can be discarded. McCain is a back stabber egomaniac, after all.

He goes on to point out how Huckabee can still screw things up for McCain if he gets enough votes, regardless of delegate count.

…if he can get enough people to vote for him simply as “not McCain” that, in terms of actual votes and not delegates, he could “win” the nomination even if he doesn’t. Imagine if, after all the primaries are done, McCain has “won” the delegate count but is far behind in terms of actual votes… that could lead to a breakdown of the nomination process and all hell could break loose at the convention.

After weighing the likely impact of Thompson and Romney, he posits that selecting Giuliani has better all around payoff and, quite frankly, I can live with that.

It isn’t about winning big in Red States. It is about holding on to Red States, even if by only one vote, and making gains in Blue States. McCain/Giuliani does that.

So what if the GOP loses Kansas? What is that, like six votes in the Electoral College? McCain/Giuliani could win New Jersey. That’s more than double. They could win Pennsylvania. That’s more than triple. They could force the democrats to spend all their money retaining New York and California, leaving states like Ohio and Florida safe in GOP hands – and the democrats CAN’T win the Electoral College without taking a state like Ohio or Florida away from the GOP.

McCain also benefits from ticket balancing with Giuliani. Not liberal/conservative, but in other ways. Giuliani is a lawyer and an executive. He has a record of running things. As VP, he could be tasked with running a number of projects for the administration – and would probably do them well.

My prediction: McCain/Giuliani, and they win BIG in the Electoral College even without getting the conservative base out in droves.

Yup, I can live with a McCain/Giuliani ticket. Sort of… given both he and McCain are too easy on illegals, and well, if I start thinking of the many trepidations I have about McCain, I realize that Obama is the only reason I have gravitated towards voting for McCain at all. The more I read about him, the more appealing McCain becomes.

And Giuliani can name the enemy, whereas an Obama presidency will probably inspire the enemy to name their kids after him.

Would-be Commander-in-Chief Obama Corrected by Those He’d Presume to Lead

You know, I’ve heard from an Army captain who was the head of a rifle platoon — supposed to have 39 men in a rifle platoon. Ended up being sent to Afghanistan with 24 because 15 of those soldiers had been sent to Iraq.

And as a consequence, they didn’t have enough ammunition, they didn’t have enough humvees. They were actually capturing Taliban weapons, because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than it was for them to get properly equipped by our current commander in chief.

You know, Obama, you’d be wrong on that.

The image of bereft and bumbling troops that Obama conjured up, however, probably confirms conclusions that he would prefer to reach. Just like his wife’s deficit in American pride is derivative of a certain mind set, so also is the would-be commander-in-chief’s. I fear Obama -and whatever leftist posse he drags into office with him – will dress the troops in shades of UN Goon Blue and send them traipsing around the world, redistributing America’s wealth, which, he has already promised, you’ll have no choice but to labor for. All for the greater good (but not your grandchildren’s greater good).

Amy Proctor’s husband, currently deployed, is one of hundreds who have responded to Obama’s questionable statements on arming the troops. He “wrote from Iraq that Obama has his facts completely wrong and that his words are a diversion”. Read his email and others weighing in at Amy’s site

Also of interest is ABC’s Jake Tapper’s attempt to fact check Obama’s statements, concluding, in his mind, that Obama was not in error. A perusal of the comments convincingly demonstrates that Mr. Tapper would likely be wrong, too. This one sums up the general consensus pretty well….

Obama said:

The captain disavowed the complete last sentence of the anecdote. Obama’s wording in the first part makes it sound like this platoon didn’t have enough basic ammunition as opposed to specialized ammo. And he makes it sound like the platoon was split up, rather than individuals being reassigned to other units that eventually wound up in Iraq.

But the anecdote checks out? Tapper might be a good writer, but he’s not a magician. Obama more than shaded the truth. He didn’t “let the facts get in the way of a good anecdote.”

Well, they’re in the way now, and Tapper’s article, while it softens the blow, does nothing to dissuade objective observers from concluding that Obama is uninformed about military procedure (for example, many military personnel have pointed out that platoons are rarely at 100% strength) and clearly willing to distort the facts for political gain – the precise thing he accuses the current administration of doing.
