The English…..
…… are known for their mild eccentricity [often not so mild] but the Scots can be quite inadvertently eccentric/peculiar too. In this report about a large container washed up on a beach in the Western Isles off Scotland, we find this:
The beach is known as Stinky Bay because of the fermenting seaweed found there.
I guess they’re not big on tourism there, and this from Alisdair MacEachern, director of environmental services in the region:
“It’s a big object so you can’t miss it, and it’s not often you see something like that on the beach.
I imagine they’ve never seen something like that on the beach before.
