The proposal requires presidential approval for prosecution under Article 301 that penalizes denigrating Turkish identity or insulting the country’s institutions, as well as Article 305 that penalizes insults against national interests, after the indictment to be prepared by the chief public prosecutor.

President Abdullah Gül has expressed concern about the proposal, saying he is worried that the presidential palace will be obliged to carry out duties of an additional judicial court, daily Radikal said yesterday.

Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Şahin, however, denied reports in an interview with the private Kanal 24. “The president did not oppose the proposal when he was informed of the draft amendment,” he said yesterday. (…)

Here’s a little link to share one of the great motivators in this move to enact Article 301.

(Young Muslims in Turkey Murder Three Christians: Deaths mark first known martyrdom of Turkish converts since founding of republic.)

This happened over a year ago and the young men who murdered these men calmly turned themselves in, admitting that they committed the murders. Yet, the courts seem to have a problem convicting them of murder. There defense is that the Christians were insulting Turkey and Islam by running a Christian bookstore.

I haven’t posted on “erasing Christianity” in awhile, and I am overdue. Unfortunately, there is much material to choose from. Serbia? Malaysia? Lebanon? Africa? Take your pick, in each nation, I imagine, there are Christians being murdered, yet all we hear is how Islam deserves respect. (SPIT)

Are you aware of any situations that need to be spotlighted? Not that this blog will galvanize an avalanche of attention, but every bit helps.

Ahhh, my friend, sadly in a post Christian world there’s really not much to choose from that does not destroy the ethos or life of a man or woman who chooses to follow in the footsteps of Christ.

Erasing Christianity? Which is worse, some group of non-believers seeking the blood of false followers of Christ OR these same ‘followers’ giving away their faith for the trinkets of comfort, status and safety???

The reason that Isalm is prospering so much is that the followers of that ‘religeon’ are more vigorous and animated in following the dictates of their beliefs than those who consider themsleves Christians. Many speak about the culture changing where ever Islam finds a foothold, saying how the western model of civilization is better. I believe that’s true, but also know that our western paradigm is due to our historical past of Christianity. So now, the foundation has erroded and people wonder why the building is falling. LOL It reminds me so much of the ‘Free Love’ movement of the 60’s. So many wanted the benifiets of a marrital relationship, without the commitment!

So it is today. Many conservatives want the advantages of peace and security found in a Christian society without any commitment to the very foundation that makes western society possible: Christ. Where does everyone thinks these ‘progressive leftists’ and ACLU social vampires came from anyway??? These caring souls who worry so much about the environment that they’ll sell Carbon Credits to anyone who’s stupid enough to buy them; they’ve all walked away from a Christian perspective and worldview. Duping and being duped…

Sooo…. What are the value of a few murders in Turkey, Thailand or China when weighed against the barren landscape of most of western society: truly a dry and bitter dearth has settled upon the land. When men and woman of faith stand up, that is when things will change.

Well said and, as usual, eloquent. I don’t like the pictures your words paint but have for a long time known them in my bones to be true. Don’t like it, nope, don’t like it at all.
But Christ has been erased, for now, thanks to those conservatives in great part. You can expect the secular world to defile him, but the “body of Christ” have failed him in America.
