Turkey: President Gül expressed concern about the proposal to revise Article 301, as he worries the presidential palace will be obliged to carry out duties of an ‘additional judicial court’.The government’s proposal to revise Article 301 of the penal code that would bestow authority to launch proceedings under the controversial article to the president has stirred up tension in the presidential palace.The proposal requires presidential approval for prosecution under Article 301 that penalizes denigrating Turkish identity or insulting the country’s institutions, as well as Article 305 that penalizes insults against national interests, after the indictment to be prepared by the chief public prosecutor.
President Abdullah Gül has expressed concern about the proposal, saying he is worried that the presidential palace will be obliged to carry out duties of an additional judicial court, daily Radikal said yesterday.
Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Şahin, however, denied reports in an interview with the private Kanal 24. “The president did not oppose the proposal when he was informed of the draft amendment,” he said yesterday. (…)

I haven’t posted on “erasing Christianity” in awhile, and I am overdue. Unfortunately, there is much material to choose from. Serbia? Malaysia? Lebanon? Africa? Take your pick, in each nation, I imagine, there are Christians being murdered, yet all we hear is how Islam deserves respect. (SPIT)
Are you aware of any situations that need to be spotlighted? Not that this blog will galvanize an avalanche of attention, but every bit helps.
