Obama Promises San Francisco Audience He Will Bankrupt Coal Industry

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

And so it will be for any of us who want to live the typical, standard, no-frills American life. It will bankrupt you. I’m not talking vacation homes and SUV’s. I am talking just a simple life. We heat with wood here, to supplement the furnace. I wonder when folks like us will be slammed with “greenhouse” taxes.

Obama has made it quite clear. You will not be permitted to conduct your life or raise your children according to the values you hold dear. For all of the Dims demands for “choice”, they are ushering in an era where  the only choice that you will have is the one this bastard Obama demands that you make. Or go bankrupt.

Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. Please understand that development of our coal industry would deliver a very hard blow to our enemies.

Although 90 percent of the country’s coal reserves are concentrated in 10 states, coal in mined in 27 states and can be found in even more. Montana has the most coal, 25 percent of demonstrated reserves. Wyoming, third among states with the most coal, is first in coal output, accounting for 18 percent of annual production.

U.S. coal reserves contain 12 times as much energy as all the oil in Saudi Arabia! A brief look at some numbers explains why coal is the country’s most abundant and important energy resource.

According to the United States Geological Survey, we have 1.7 trillion tons of identified coal resources — coal for which geological evidence and engineering studies provide reliable information about location, rank, quality, and quantity. (Geologists recognize that more coal deposits are likely to be discovered in the future, so they estimate total coal resources could amount to 4 trillion tons.)

Instead of doing all that is possible to secure America’s future by developing our resources, Obama would prefer us to remain dependent on our enemies with an economy crippled by policies that are designed to do just that. Perhaps it is because, like our enemies, Obama prefers America to be on her knees.

You are surfing your usual web sites one morning only to come upon a snapshot of your front yard, which happens to boast conservative political signage, and your address is boldly spelled out underneath it. There are several such photos of various homes sporting similar signs, interspersed with sophomoric, but none the less, venomous text. Such as this describing the adjacent photo.

Black Effigies Are Apparently Protected

I was just waiting for this to happen. When I posted on the Palin effigy incident, I predicted that were the same stunt pulled with an Obama effigy, it would be treated far more severely. And gee, lookie here…..

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A University of Kentucky student and another man were arrested Thursday, accused of hanging a life-sized likeness of Barack Obama from a tree on the campus.

The incident was one of several in recent weeks involving effigies of the presidential candidates or their running mates. No charges have been filed in four other cases that have made national headlines.

UK Interim Police Chief Joe Monroe said the men “expressed remorse for a stunt that had gotten out of hand.” (Source)

So is this the way of it in Obama’s world?  “Liberals” will be strutting around with their ludicrous air of moral superiority, cawing like demented crows about the white race’s multitude of sins, while they exhibit the same racism that they condemn the white race for perpetuating. Talk about setting race relations back a few decades. But then, Obama and his crew aren’t about racial harmony. It seems to simply come down to power plays and payback. Those who subscribe to the liberation theology preached by Wright are lashing out with an old and brittle tribal anger against generations of Americans who have given due respect to all issues pertaining to rights. Said generations are not likely to let these continuous and rampant charges of racism go unchallenged.

What really irks me are apologies.

I personally wouldn’t apologize. If Palin, Bush, Cheny, et al can be hung in effigy, then so can Barack Obama. Otherwise, the implication is that it is quite OK to hang a white woman, but black skin is somehow sacred.

Gee, what role reversal. What an impressive demonstration of transcendent thinking we find in “progressives”. Or is this the newest incarnation of the KKK? Seems that the spirit that animates racism has no skin preference. The baser tendencies of man make themselves known universally.

The creators of the Palin effigy, on the other hand, aren’t in the least apologetic for their display but basking in their new found celebrity, as is only fitting for denizens of California.

Chad Michael Morrisette and his partner, Mito Aviles, both 28, said they installed the Palin display at their house… about three weeks ago. They said they decided to put up something that was politically relevant because Halloween… “If it’s a political statement, it’s that their politics is scary to us….This is our palette and this is our venue of expression.”

So libs are granted the very thin veneer of “political statement” or artistic license – whatever rationalization that is employed, – but any suggestion that “white folks” are dissing some pet minority group – and that’s what progressives do, they collect minorities much the way Hollywood celebrities adopt ethnic children or miniature exotic dogs. Be it micro or macro, libs are always trying to make the world “a better place”, aren’t they? But they fail miserably most of the time, and like the ineffably spoiled children that they are, they never clean up their messes. That just make excuses for them.

But Morrisette, who has talked with several reporters about the display and has another interview scheduled this afternoon with the “Today” show, said he had no plans to take down the display until after Halloween. Morrisette said city officials and police had not contacted him about the display.

So two kids are in jail for hanging Obama, but Morrisette and his partner will be doing the Today show. There are some reports that they took their Palin down. That isn’t the point either. Neither incident should have garnered attention. Eight years of slicing and dicing Bush and Cheny certainly merited little protest or notice. But yeah, that’s right, they were white guys.

Also, I looked for any picture of this Obama effigy, but found none, though  the Palin effigy was common enough. What’s up with that?

Ye Shall Know Them By Their Fruit…..

A good rule of thumb when judging anyone is to see if their actions match their words. Just like the biblical axiom abjures us to observe , the fruit of an individual’s life is evidence of who they are. And the fruit the Obama’s have lying about in their fields and orchards are rather void of caloric content. Indeed, most of it is poisonous. The choices that the Obamas have made in their lives have little resemblance to the choices they facilely demand that Americans make.

Obama, however, excludes himself from charitable obligations or brotherly kindnesses. Personally, I’d prefer the crumbs from the “selfish” wealthy to the fictional parities of “economic justice”. I can run with those capitalist crumbs, make them into a damn cake if I am so inclined.  In Obama’s world there will be no cake – just “brothers” like him.

And as far as that “balance” he was trying to achieve, it doesn’t tilt towards having a heart for his hut dwelling brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama or his Aunt Zeituni. The “fruit” that Obama’s family gets from his socialist tree is far more representative of the “justice ” that a socialist reality will deliver than any of Obama’s slick words.

All Charisma, No Heart

How can Obama spare thousands for Chicago’s Muntu Theater of African dance, while allowing his 56-year-old Aunt Zeituni, about whom he reminisces fondly in his best-selling “Dreams From My Father,” to live in a South Boston slum, as exposed by the Times of London this week? While Obama was swimming in well over $600 million in cash contributions, his underprivileged Kenyan-born auntie actually sent his campaign a modest donation.

A 2003 Associated Press story profiling poor people who buy lottery tickets at check-cashing stores apparently quotes Obama’s Aunt Zeituni, describing her as unemployed and cash-strapped.

Obama’s Uncle Omar, also described affectionately in his book, was apparently evicted from his Boston home in 2000 after losing his job. Then there is Obama’s 26-year-old half brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, discovered by the Italian edition of Vanity Fair to be living in a hovel near Nairobi, claiming to earn “less than a dollar a month.”

It’s funny how Obama can sell his memoir exploiting his relatives and humanize himself for voters, yet be too busy getting ready to change the world to be there for them when they need a hand…

Who knows how many other poor kinfolk Obama has relegated to the shadows. Perhaps, like his Aunt, they have all been instructed to keep their lips sealed. It is very striking to note, again, how controlling Obama is. How obfuscating and evasive he is about his past.

Speaking outside her home in Flaherty Way, South Boston, on Tuesday, Ms Onyango, 56, confirmed she was the “Auntie Zeituni” in Mr Obama’s memoir. She declined to answer most other questions about her relationship with the presidential contender until after the November 4 election. “I can’t talk about it, I just pray for him, that’s all,” she said, adding: “After the 4th, I can talk to anyone.” (Source)

Michelle Obama, while unleashed, provided ample evidence that she doesn’t walk her talk. Her stilted attempt to assume the role of a “proud American” has been unconvincing. But she is a fine fit for her brooding husband, her anger fueling his perpetual angst. Her laughable pose of righteous indignation when being called out for her hypocrisy falls flat and flaccid when measured next to the thinly veiled antipathy of her words. And her words are simply the stale rhetoric of her political class, void of authenticity, trading in lies. She indeed is her husbands match.

To Joe Novak, this only goes to prove that Michelle is distorting reality when she attempts to depict herself as a champion of the masses.

“For the past year (she and Barack) have jetted around the country with Oprah Winfrey and Robert De Niro, enjoying penthouse parties and living the high life,” he said.

Perhaps…. she genuinely may think that her childhood was impoverished. And the one thing that is certain about the incredible Mrs O is that she never intends to have to live that way again.

I have to say, I’ve come to respect the Hillary camp. Be they called PUMAs or McCain Democrats, they know campaigning, and they know their stuff. So I’d give this following admonition some serious consideration.

This is really intended for Republicans who did not follow the primaries on the Democrats’ side this year (because, well, we guess you took a nice long Atlantis cruise to Mars, in which case, color us jealous).

The same pattern that unfolded during our primaries is happening again, because the media has just one tattered old used playbook (written by David Axelrod, of course), and they have not deviated from it yet. What the media and Obama campaign did, in concert, to Hillary Clinton before every major primary is what they are doing to McCain/Palin now. Here are the top three media/Obama head tricks to watch out for in the last days before the election.

If you, collectively, can keep Republicans and other McCain voters from falling for these, we believe there’s nothing Obama can do to win this election. The ONLY way McCain loses is if you Eeyores allow the media to keep you from the polls.

Obama’s ‘Redistributive Change’ and the Death of Freedom

Freedom accepts that we are different. The endless variety of life assures that. I had every opportunity to become just as good a basketball player as Michael Jordan, but he has natural gifts and worked harder. If we played a hundred times, he would whip me a hundred times by about 500 points. No Change, no matter how rapturously framed, could alter that result without chaining him to the bench and rendering the game no longer recognizable as basketball. That would be perversion, not justice.

Yet, this is just what Obama’s “economic justice” envisions: that the government can hamstring Michael Jordan and give me enough freebies that, despite his talent and industry, he can only play me to a tie, destroying his incentive to excel while the Bulls go out of business, no longer able to afford even my mediocrity. Naturally, such an absurd system requires change. Redistribution smothers the freedom our Constitution is designed to foster. It is therefore antithetical to our law.

No amount of ignorance, stupidity, or wishful thinking will change the reality that there are people who are prepared to kill you and your family for no good reason at all. Barack Obama: An Extremely Flawed Man

He is a man who is not forthcoming, imbued with the arrogance to presume that he has no obligation to answer his critics, and the pomposity to expect that respect will be given to him for no other reason than that he demands it. Because Americans do not like liars, and that Obama most assuredly is. I can picture Obama as a POW, and all I can see is a man cowering, shivering, begging. There is no mettle in him, no soul, no spine. Just whine, whine, whine. No wonder he is a hit in the ‘hood.

McCain an open book; Obama’s cover closed

It is from this framework that I have realized that I cannot trust Barack Obama. The questions surrounding Obama related to his dealings with Bill Ayers, Toni Rezko, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the Rev. Michael Phleger, Raila Odinga, Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae (Obama received the second-highest amount of money from it), ACORN and the Annenberg Foundation to name a few are concerning. In addition, his lack of candor and consistency related to these associations question his trustworthiness. Moreover, one must factor in the inability to gain access to Obama-related background information, such as health records, official papers from his tenure as a Illinois state legislator such as letters from lobbyists, correspondences, a simple appointment calendar. Also, lack of attorney-client history, college records from Occidental, Columbia or Harvard such as transcripts and grades (this was a big issue for Bush during his campaign, not so much with Obama), application to the Illinois state bar, names of small donors giving $200 or less to his campaign ($300 million that has been raised by Obama in small amounts) draws more question on trust, this from the “transparent and open” candidate. What is he hiding?

Similar information related to John McCain is easy to acquire and readily available.

Sarkozy views Obama stance on Iran as ‘utterly immature’

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama’s positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel’s government.

Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate’s stance on Iran as “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”

Obama visited Paris in July, and the Iranian issue was at the heart of his meeting with Sarkozy. At a joint press conference afterward, Obama urged Iran to accept the West’s proposal on its nuclear program, saying that Iran was creating a serious situation that endangered both Israel and the West.

According to the reports reaching Israel, Sarkozy told Obama at that meeting that if the new American president elected in November changed his country’s policy toward Iran, that would be “very problematic.”

Until now, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have tried to maintain a united front on Iran. But according to the senior Israeli source, Sarkozy fears that Obama might “arrogantly” ignore the other members of this front and open a direct dialogue with Iran without preconditions.

Following their July meeting, Sarkozy repeatedly expressed disappointment with Obama’s positions on Iran, concluding that they were “not crystallized, and therefore many issues remain open,” the Israeli source said. Advisors to the French president who held separate meetings with Obama’s advisors came away with similar impressions and expressed similar disappointment.

Premature Presidency

Senator Barack Obama’s recurring habit of interfering in U.S. relations with foreign nations represents more than petty, cheap shot politics. It appears to be a violation of the Logan Act.

Established in 1799, the Logan Act made it a crime for any U.S. citizen to engage in activities “with any foreign government … in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States.” The act even prohibits members of Congress from acting unilaterally.

The report of Obama’s attempt last June to obstruct the negotiation of a status of forces agreement between the U.S. and Iraq is exactly the type of interference the Logan Act outlawed. According to Samir Sumaidaie, the Iraqi ambassador to the U.S., Obama “urged Iraq to delay the [memorandum of understanding] between Iraq and the United States until the new administration was in place.”

Obama’s desire to withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq in 16 months is exactly the development the demoralized and virtually defeated Al Qaeda in Iraq could use to reconstitute and reenergize its force of terrorist fighters. The Obama plan would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. In spite of how completely wrong such a strategy would be, occupying the presidency would give Obama the right to implement such a plan. That is, unless Congress were to enact legislation over an Obama veto that would block his hurried withdrawal plan.

However, Obama is not the president and possibly may not become the president in 2009. To send mixed signals and undermine current foreign relations strategies by negotiating a side deal is unstatesmanlike, at the very least, and perhaps illegal.

Widespread press accounts of Obama’s activities in support of Kenya’s opposition candidate Raila Odinga in August 2006 and again earlier this year indicate he was meddling in state affairs that have a direct bearing on U.S. relations.

Isn’t that an astounding thing for a country that thinks of itself as a democratic capitalist society? What if Mr. Mack had said “no thanks”? Would he have been arrested? But as you’ll see in a moment, there was little chance of that happening.

My mind reels. A command appearance before government regulators was followed by a command (not a “request”) surrender of autonomy by the nine biggest banks in the U.S. A forced “sale” of preferred shares to the government was ordered in return for billions of newly minted dollars from the Fed with instructions that it immediately be loaned out to “thaw” the frozen credit markets.

Surely this wasn’t happening in America. The very notion of bureaucrats telling business leaders what they must do “for their own good, and the good of the country” makes me want to throw up. Preposterous. By what authority? How would they know? What conceit!

How did America’s leading bankers react? Did they laugh in the regulators’ faces, tear up the “term sheets,” and storm out of the room? Did they hold press conferences condemning this high-handed and obviously unconstitutional attempt to intimidate and steal private assets? Not exactly.

A West Hollywood Halloween display showing a likeness of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose has caused a furor among some residents who reported it as a hate crime, authorities said Monday.

But Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said the mannequin sporting a beehive hairdo, glasses and a red coat does not rise to the level of a hate crime because it was part of a Halloween display.

“I’m not defending this; I’m not criticizing it. It doesn’t rise to the level of hate crime,” said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, who said he went out to the house himself to look at the display this morning.

If bad taste were a crime, California would be one large penal colony, but, that’s not the point. “Hate crime” is a ludicrous construct scraped from the lunatic liberal’s fetid brain. Hate is not a crime. Sweetheart, if I punch you out, it ain’t going to be with love in my heart. My hatred is implicit, it is understood. It doesn’t make your bloody nose any more severely traumatized for the hatred invested in it’s assault. So arrest me for assault, but do not give me any song and dance about hatred. Especially if punching out a white guy is considered less hateful than punching out a black or a gay.

I am sure the twat who hung Sarah in effigy hasn’t one fond thought for the woman. And that is fine by me. But do not turn around and tell me that if i put a noose around an Obama and Michelle effigy, I’d get the same blase response from the arbiters of social justice. Typical of the libs, there is one rule for them, and another set of rules for those who do not subscribe to their touchy-feely notion of goodness. It’s perfectly acceptable to hate Palin, but let one noose show up around dark pigmentation, and eeeeewww, it’s mean old nasty hate.

And they’d be partially wrong. I’ll stick those pins in with a vengeance because I truly do hate everything about Obama. But hating him is not a crime, though, no doubt, it will be soon. And I will still keep sticking those pins through his likeness and unless I take that into reality and stick one into his fat ass, they can just take their hate crime nonsense and shove it where all the rest of their politically correct palaver issues from.

I do wish someone in the neighborhood would hang Obama and Michelle in effigy. The contrast in how that would be perceived compared to the Palin display would be a textbook study in “progressive” hypocrisy.

I think where it succeeded was to invest formal rights in previously dispossessed people, so that now I would have the right to vote. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendancy to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. Pretend it just happened. That’s the thrust of a new video from a liberal, pro-Obama group.

As polls show the presidential race tightening in swing states such as Pennsylvania and Florida, MoveOn.org is pressing a get-out-the-vote message with a “funny, scary video” showing people “what it might look like if we lose the election by a single vote.”

The video includes the name of the email recipient, making it look like Susan Jones in my case was the non-voter who cost Obama the election.

“U.S. elections are always close, but the nation was shocked Tuesday night to see John McCain defeat Barack Obama by a single vote,” intones a mock anchorman in the MoveOn.org video.

“For many, shock soon turned to outrage as The New York Times revealed the identity of the particular non-voter responsible for Obama’s loss,” the “anchorman” says, as the non-voter’s name appears in font on the “TV screen.”

“In just a few short days, this private citizen has become a national pariah,” the anchorman says. The video explains that police take the non-voter into protective custody, it shows Obama supporters letting loose with bleeped invective, and it includes soundbites from President Bush and Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly favorite targets of the left thanking the non-voter for being patriotic.

“Coming up – how long until we nuke Iran? Experts say it could be as early as Saturday,” the anchorman concludes, implying that John McCain will have his finger on the trigger, thanks to the single non-voter who cost Obama the election.

In an email message introducing the video, MoveOn.org lists some of the excuses people use for failing to go to the polls: “Oversleeping. Getting the car fixed. Having to pick up the second-cousin’s stepkids on the other side of town.”

People want to vote, they know they should vote, and they intend to vote: “But some of your friends won’t get around to actually voting because they haven’t been reminded vividly enough.” the message said.

Obama himself has warned voters against complacency, apparently with good reason.

AYERS IS DEAD SERIOUS ABOUT HIS ‘SOCIAL JUSTICE’

Ayers, and those of his ilk, are deformed and ugly men, of that there is no doubt – at least that’s how they appear to those of us who have been spared a life in the rarefied atmosphere of academia where, apparently, all manner of venal and vapid humans are regularly elevated to demi-god status.

This blog and hundreds of others have documented Obama’s comfort level with the ideology espoused by Ayers, an affinity also made evident by Obama’s lengthy roster of radical mentors and his continuous associations with the breed throughout his life. By now, most know that Obama’s choices in life display a pattern of beliefs and behaviors that are congruent with the teachings of Wright’s liberation theology, compatible with the politics by intimidation, as taught by Alinsky (and practiced by ACORN), and a good fit with the self-loathing Ayers’s obsessive hatred for America and his own pigmentation.

These are waters in which Obama has swum from the time he was in his leftist mother’s womb until today. This is his comfort zone. He was never a fish out of those waters and Ayers did not appear to him to be a predator, but a familiar species of fish. Obama may have been 8 when Ayer’s was playing at being a big-bad-bomber-boy, but by the time Ayers formed a relationship with him, Obama had matured into a man after Ayer’s own heart, of that I have no doubt. No, the waters Obama swims in, he is well acclimated to, and the sharks and predators that swim with him are familiar friends.

It’s when he is tries so hard to appear as if he were made of presidential “stuff” that he flounders like a fish out of water. A fish that needs countless handlers, puppet masters, truth squads, ACORN creatures, voter fraud, and millions in questionable campaign contributions – and a steady supply of teleprompters. He is definitely out of his depths when pretending a reverence for America and he is obviously swimming against the current when trying to pass himself off as someone who knows, or gives a damn, about capitalism.

The only time that Barack Obama makes sense is when you place him in his natural habitat. A world where unrequited race angst is a sign of divinity, where the nurture of bitter envy is an art form, where the hunger for power and payback are blood to the body and sustenance for the soul.

In the end, Barack Obama is common, very much the banal malcontent that we have seen since the sixties produced that ubiquitous mold. That America should deem him fit for the crown says more about our spiritual and moral derangement than it says about the character of the man who would be king. That any American should believe that Barack Obama gives a damn about “Joe the Plumber”, speaks to our inane refusal to comprehend that men who can disinterestedly ponder the execution of a quarter million “die-hard capitalists” are very much real, very powerful and they ain’t about to redistribute that power to your, or me, or Joe.

Obama is also part of a long tradition on the left of being for the working class in the abstract, or as people potentially useful for the purposes of the left, but having disdain or contempt for them as human beings.

The left makes no secret of its intentions where the Constitution is concerned. It wants to change it, in ways that have nothing to do with what the document actually says. It wants the Constitution to enshrine its own policy preferences–thus freeing it from the tiresome necessity of winning elections. And how will the Constitution be changed? Through a constitutional convention, or a vote of two-thirds of the state legislatures? Of course not. The whole problem, from the liberal perspective, is that they can’t get democratically elected bodies to enact their agenda. As one of the Yale conference participants said: “We don’t have much choice other than to believe deeply in the courts–where else do we turn?” The new, improved Constitution will come about through judicial re-interpretation.
It only awaits, perhaps, the election of the next Democratic president.

In his 2004 book The Second Bill of Rights: FDR’s Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More than Ever, Sunstein argues that citizens’ rights exist only to the extent that they are granted by the government.

Sunstein, who believes that the federal courts are dominated by conservatives, agrees with Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s assertion that the Constitution is a “living” document whose meanings and mandates change with the passage of time.

“When we get in a tussle, we appeal to the Founding Fathers and the Constitution’s ratifiers to give direction. Some, like Justice Scalia, conclude that the original understanding must be followed and if we obey this rule, democracy is respected. Others, like Justice Breyer, insist that sometimes the original understanding can take you only so far — that on the truly big arguments, we have to take context, history, and the practical outcomes of a decision into account. I have to side with Justice Breyer’s view of the Constitution — that it is not a static but rather a living document and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world…”

So for those  who still wonder how Obama can so blatantly trample the First Amendment, well, he never did have much respect for it to start with, as is evidenced by all of his maneuvers to squelch opposition during his current crusade for office.

Now, factor in this disdain for all of our basic freedoms with his grotesque ambition to foist on America a “youth corp”, and you have Obamafascism.

Obama Wants DOJ to Silence McCain-Palin on ACORN

Remember when Barack Obama used his campaign lawyers to petition the Department of Justice to shut down the American Issues Project when it created an ad about William Ayers?

Obama’s complaint didn’t go anywhere, but he’s at it again. This time Obama’s trying to use his influence as a presidential candidate and U.S. Senator to convince the DOJ to shut down those who are criticizing ACORN.

Obama for America General Counsel Bob Bauer wrote a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasy last Friday asking Mukasy to launch an investigation against John McCain, Sarah Palin and their campaign surrogates.

Why? Because Obama is upset the GOP is drawing attention to ACORN’s fraudulent voter registration activities. Bauer said members of the GOP are “fomenting specious vote fraud allegations, and there are distorting indications of official involvement or collusion.”

Bauer’s 7-page letter specifically accuses McCain, Palin and Republican Sens. George Voinovich, John Cornyn and Reps. Michele Bachmann, Roy Blunt and Paul Ryan of engaging in “politically-motivated efforts to influence the Department’s investigative and prosecutorial efforts.”

The Heritage Foundation’s Conn Carroll says this gives a “good preview of what an Obama Department of Justice would look like.” Scary.

When All Else Fails, Use The Courts To Silence Talk Radio

Having failed to shut down conservative talk radio through every means possible, including well- funded attack sites, smear strategies and so much more, the left has opened up a new front on its war against viewpoints they oppose. The new approach: simply sue your political foes right out of business.

In what appears to be a test case for what could become a future trend nationwide, a suit has been filed in Los Angeles against conservative talk station KRLA, which is owned by Salem Broadcasting.

In the suit, David Birke and attorney Johnny Birke argue that KRLA uses public airwaves to push Republican Party causes, an old lefty chestnut. Named in the suit are Salem, CEO Ed Atsinger and seven talk show hosts, according to the Glendale News-Press….

The Coming Counterrevolution To Hush The Alternative Media

But the biggest potential danger of neutrality is that its concern for equal treatment of bits will extend to sites’ content, creating a kind of Fairness Doctrine for the Web, as FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell has warned — and as Obama adviser and law professor Cass Sunstein once called for.

Not coincidentally, hampering the alternative media with new regulations would leave the liberal mainstream press, which still enjoys full First Amendment protections, comparatively empowered.

Given how the “MSM” has covered this presidential race — fawning over Obama and pummeling John McCain and especially his charismatic running mate Sarah Palin at every opportunity — it’s easy to see why many liberals may be hoping for a media restoration.

The unFairness Doctrine

There are always those who’d like to improve on freedom of speech. Shut up, they explain. All they want is what’s fair, meaning their idea of what’s fair. There’s a difference.

They sigh for the good old days when riffraff like Rush Limbaugh and numerous imitators could be shut out of the public discourse. It is those who claim to speak for The People who resent it most when people choose to listen to somebody else.

We knew who our betters were in the good old days, when we tuned in to find out what was politically correct long before it had acquired that label. No wonder our current elite, or those who’d like to be, dream of restoring the Fairness Doctrine in all its constricting glory.

On his Web site, Barack Obama says that the country should “clarify the public interest obligation of broadcasters who occupy the nation’s spectrum.” I’m not sure what that means, but I have an idea. The senator can put all the lipstick he wants to on the Fairness Doctrine, but it’d still be unfair. Those who wax sentimental for it mystify me. I’d much prefer to win a fair fight, or even lose one, rather than tie the other guy’s hands. For the best response to an idea one detests is not to suppress it, but to offer a better idea. It’s only fair.

What is “social justice”? The abolition of privacy. Its repudiation of property rights, far from being a fundamental, is merely one derivation of this basic principle. Socialism, declared Marx, advocates “the positive abolition of private property [in order to effect] the return of man himself as a social, i.e., really human, being.” It is the private status of property — meaning: the privacy, not the property — that stands in opposition to the social (i.e., “socialized,” and thus “really human”) nature of man. Observe that the premise holds even when we substitute x for property. If private anything denies man’s social nature, then so does private everything. And it is the negation of anything and everything private — from work to worship to even family life — that has been the social affirmation of the socialist state.

What is “social justice”? The opposite of capitalism. And what is “capitalism”? It is Marx’s coinage (minted by his materialist dispensation) for the Western liberalism that diminished state power from absolutism to limited government; that, from John Locke to the American Founders, held that each individual has an inviolable right to his own life, liberty, and property, which government exists solely to secure. Now what would the reverse of this be but a resurrection of Oriental despotism, the reactionary increase of state power from limited government to absolutism, i.e., “totalitarianism,” the absolute control of absolutely everything? And what is the opposite — the violation — of securing the life, liberty, and property of all men other than mass murder, mass tyranny, and mass plunder? And what is that but the point at which theory ends and history begins?

And yet even before that point — before the 20th century, before publication of the Manifesto itself — there were those who did indeed make the connection between what Marxism inherently meant on paper and what it would inevitably mean in practice. In 1844, Arnold Ruge presented the abstract: “a police and slave state.” And in 1872, Michael Bakunin provided the specifics:

[T]he People’s State of Marx … will not content itself with administering and governing the masses politically, as all governments do today. It will also administer the masses economically, concentrating in the hands of the State the production and division of wealth, the cultivation of land, the establishment and development of factories, the organization and direction of commerce, and finally the application of capital to production by the only banker — the State. All that will demand an immense knowledge and many heads “overflowing with brains” in this government. It will be the reign of scientific intelligence, the most aristocratic, despotic, arrogant, and elitist of all regimes. There will be a new class, a new hierarchy of real and counterfeit scientists and scholars, and the world will be divided into a minority ruling in the name of knowledge, and an immense ignorant majority. And then, woe unto the mass of ignorant ones!

It is precisely this “new class” that reflects the defining contradiction of modern leftist reality: The goal of complete economic equality logically enjoins the means of complete state control, yet this means has never practically achieved that end. Yes, Smith and Jones, once “socialized,” are equally poor and equally oppressed, but now above them looms an oligarchy of not-to-be-equalized equalizers. The inescapable rise of this “new class” — privileged economically as well as politically, never quite ready to “wither away” — forever destroys the possibility of a “classless” society. Here the lesson of socialism teaches what should have been learned from the lesson of pre-liberal despotism — that state coercion is a means to no end but its own. Far from expanding equality from the political to the economic realm, the pursuit of “social justice” serves only to contract it within both. There will never be any kind of equality — or real justice — as long as a socialist elite stands behind the trigger while the rest of us kneel before the barrel.

The Obama Condom

I got this in an email and thought it worth passing along. Much like Obama favors infanticide, thus destroying new life, his presidency will abort and prevent the birth of new business, new ideas, and life in general.

The federal government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government’s political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually being screwed!

It just doesn’t get more accurate than that.

Obama’s Ohio Lackey Brunner Triumphs, Good Man Boehner Fails

This is what conservatives have to prepare themselves to expect on a continuous basis. That voter fraud perpetuated by Obama’s ACORN is sweeping the country like a virulent virus is beyond dispute. But any attempts to investigate, or attempts such as John Boehner’s efforts to cut off funding to this band of miscreants are squashed. Rule of law means nothing to the left. If it did, we wouldn’t have a problem with illegal immigration, sanctuary cities or upstart mayors sanctioning gay marriage.
It is going to get worse under Obama, so you can expect that lawsuits like Phil Berg’s will be buried. It doesn’t matter to the Progressive pukes if their Messiah has legitimate claim to citizenship, no more than Wright, Ayers and the sundry other radical detritus he is tied with mattered to them. He is surrounded by the men who are responsible for the Fannie Mae debacle and the media whistles Dixie. None of it matters.

High court rejects GOP bid in Ohio voting dispute

The Supreme Court is siding with Ohio’s top elections official in a dispute with the state Republican Party over voter registrations.

The justices on Friday overruled a federal appeals court that had ordered Ohio’s top elections official to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility.

Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, faced a deadline of Friday to set up a system to provide local officials with names of newly registered voters whose driver’s license numbers or Social Security numbers on voter registration forms don’t match records in other government databases.

Frank rebuffs GOP calls for ACORN hearings

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Wednesday dismissed GOP calls for immediate hearings regarding a grassroots group’s alleged abuse of government funds as a political tactic to help John McCain.

His comments come in response to an Oct. 14 letter, signed by Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), Financial Services ranking member Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) and Republican members of the committee, requesting that Frank call hearings on the activities of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) and the group’s alleged ties to fraudulent voter registration.

“Recent press accounts have listed allegations of voter fraud in Ohio, Nevada and Florida among others,” the letter said. “Given the reliance of ACORN on millions of dollars of federal funding from the housing GSE’s [sic] and grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, it is imperative that the Financial Services Committee use its oversight authority to determine the accuracy of these reports.”

Frank disagreed.

“My Republican colleagues, in raising the issue of ACORN, which is unrelated to the subject of regulatory restructuring, have apparently decided to try to hijack the committee and turn it into an echo chamber in an effort help out the McCain campaign,” Frank said. “No legislation passed by the House has authorized or appropriated funds for ACORN.”

“Between March 23rd and October 1st, various groups, including ACORN, submitted over 252,595 registrations to the Philadelphia County Election Board” with 57, 435 rejected for faulty information. “Most of these registrations were submitted by ACORN, and rejected due to fake social security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, clearly fraudulent signatures, addresses that do not exist, and duplicate registrations. In one case, a man was registered to vote more than 15 times since the Primary election.”
